Make a vacation rental in Bavaria your home away from home in this spectacular region of Germany, known for its stunning alpine scenery, magnificent castles and rich culture.
In the regional capital of Munich (Munchen), guests of Bavaria vacation rentals can tour the spectacular Residenz palace, with its ornately decorated rooms and treasury of jewels, porcelain and artwork, and visit the vast Englischer Garten and the Schloss Nymphenburg. Top museums include the Pinakotheke and the huge Deutsches Museum. Munich is known for its beer gardens and for the famous Octoberfest, held from mid-September to early October. Other popular events for guests of Bavaria vacation rentals include the Christ Child Market from late November to Christmas Eve, and the Mardi Gras celebration.
Nuremberg (Nurnberg) is famous for its gingerbread, sausages and Christmas market. The churches, castle and other important buildings of Nuremberg were reconstructed after the bombings of World War II. Attractions for guests of Bavaria vacation rentals include the historic artworks at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, the views from the Kaiserburg fortress, the Gothic church of St. Lorenz-Kirche, and the scenic Heilig-Geist-Spital on the banks of the river Pegnitz.
Guests of Bavaria vacation rentals will find excellent alpine skiing in several locations. Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the country's number one ski resort, offers four separate ski areas -- the Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Osterfelder runs above the town, and the Zugspitz glacier, higher in the Wetterstein range. The cosmopolitan resort town of Oberstdorf is located between Munich, Stuttgart and Lake Constance. Oberstdorf's main ski area, Fellhorn/Kleinwalsertal, is located just a few miles outside of town. Both resorts are known for their ski-jumping competitions.
