Orlando Weather

Orlando has a humid subtropical climate with two main seasons referred to as hot and wet, and cool and dry. The hot rainy season, from May until late September, sees daytime temperatures in the mid-90s and the low 70s at night. It is also known as hurricane season, though hurricanes usually dissipate before reaching that far inland.

Orlando's hot season is laced with dramatic lightning and thunderstorms almost every day from mid-April through mid-October. This is due to Florida's unique peninsula configuration and Orlando's centralized location between air masses from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean that collide overhead, producing spectacular displays of nature's power.

The popular cool dry season, from late October through April, brings glorious sunny weather to Orlando. Temperatures range from 60 degrees to the low 70s during the day and as low as 49 degrees at night in January.

How to Get There

Unless you're driving your car up the I-4 from Tampa or Daytona, you'll probably arrive at the conveniently located Orlando International Airport, by Amtrak rail, or Greyhound bus. Once you've arrived, rental cars are readily available along with taxis, airport shuttle busses that operate 24/7, and the local Lynx bus system that covers Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Polk, and Volusia Counties.
