Another good choice would be the Winterthur Museum and Gardens which is located on what was formerly a DuPont estate. It offers tours of 175 period decorated rooms, museum galleries, and seasonal gardens across many acres of land. The Delaware Children’s Museum, on the other hand, offers children a total hands-on learning experience about water, senses, transportation, and much more. It is geared for children from toddlers up to about age eight years.

Delaware Beaches offer Fun in the Sun

There are many beaches along the Delaware coast line. Cape Henlopen State Park offers two public beaches open for swimmers. These are staffed with lifeguards from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offer modern bathhouse facilities. This destination is also popular for fishers. Rehoboth Beach is a family centered town with beaches and a boardwalk. The boardwalk features arcades, shops and small restaurant stands. Many restaurants and much shopping are available in this area as well. The Rehoboth Beach Outlet Center is a destination in itself. Other popular beaches in Delaware include Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach.

Since there is no sales tax charged in the state of Delaware, it is a great place to shop. Delaware has three traditional shopping malls, Dover Mall, Christiana Mall, and Concord Mall. Christiana Mall is by far the largest and it is conveniently located just off of I-95 in Newark, Delaware. It is also on many of Delaware’s public bus routes. Additionally, on the outskirts of the mall are many big box stores such as Costco, the Container Store, and Petco, to name only a few. There are many more shopping centers, both big and small, all offering the same tax free shopping deals.

Delaware Weather Changes for Each Season

Delaware has warm summers and cold winters. Summer highs average in the high 80s, while average winter lows are in the high 30s. Spring and Fall are nice times to visit Delaware because the weather is moderate, usually in the 60s and 70s.

Getting to Delaware is Easy

Getting to Delaware in your own car or a rental car is easy. Northern Delaware has I-95 passing through it making for easy access. State route 1 can take you to the southern areas of the state. Delaware busses can take you any place within the state and there is also a Greyhound bus station if you come from out of state. An Amtrak train station is also located in Wilmington for those traveling by train. And, New Castle, Delaware has a small airport with limited service for those who may choose to fly into Delaware, however, it is usually easier to fly into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and take a bus or shuttle into Delaware.
