Enjoying Georgia in a St. Simons Island Condo

St. Simons Island is one of the most popular vacation spots along the Georgia coast, and it is included in a group of islands known collectively as the Golden Isles. This island is known for its beaches, but there is also much to see and do beyond the beach. From your St. Simons Island condo rental, you will be in the perfect spot to enjoy all that the area has to offer. In addition, you can feel right at home with spacious bedrooms, a large deck or balcony, a BBQ grill and other amenities available in some units.

Outdoor Recreation

You will be in the perfect location to enjoy a spectacular coastal vacation when you stay at your condo in St. Simons Island. This is an area that has a diverse range of opportunities for you to enjoy outdoors, including beach-style activities like sunbathing, swimming and combing for seashells. Deep sea fishing, sailing, water sports and even sightseeing on the mainland and island are popular outdoor activities. More structured activities are available, such as golf at the Sea Island Golf Club as well as pickleball and tennis. There are a total of eight public sports and hiking parks available on the island, and additional parks are located on the mainland.

When you stay in your St. Simons Island condo, you will be located close to some of the best shopping in the Golden Isles. Redfern Village is a popular shopping mall that has both brand name stores and national chains as well as local shops and boutique stores. There are also other retail centers, such as Pier Village. In addition, you can find numerous surf, beach and t-shirt shops that have great souvenirs. Antiquing is also popular here because of the several fine antique shops located throughout the island.

Historical Attractions

The history of the St. Simons Island is rich and diverse, and many want to take time to learn more about the island while on their vacation. Fort Frederica National Monument, Christ Church, the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum, the Maritime enter at Historic Coast Guard Station, the Bloody Marsh, the Wesley Memorial & Gardens and other points of interest each tell a different story about the history of the community.

The weather in St. Simons Island is stunning most of the year because of the island's location along the southeastern coast of the United States. The area boasts a humid subtropical climate that brings considerable rainfall to the area during the warmer months of the year, and the peak rainy season occurs between July and September. However, even during the rainy season, you can enjoy ample sunshine and warm temperatures, making it ideal most days to head to the beach or to spend time enjoying other outdoor activities. Freezing temperatures and snowfall are rare here in the winter months, and average highs throughout most of the winter are in the 60s.

How to Get There

The three main ways to reach the island are by boat, air or car. There are three marinas on the island that are suitable for pleasure boats to tie up to. The Brunswick Golden Isles Airport is the nearest airport for commercial airline travel, or you can travel into Jacksonville or Atlanta if you need access to a larger airport. If you are driving, you can connect to Interstate 95. Then, turn east on Highway 341 in Brunswick. As you navigate through Brunswick, turn north onto Highway 17 and east onto the Torres Causeway to reach the island.
