  • Purpose of the role

    We are looking for a passionate Full-stack Developer who wants to drive architecture level work with Java and Java Script. You will have a lead role in working with a talented, driven and innovative team designing and implementing global solutions supporting HomeAways growth into new markets.

    As Technical Lead you will spend 80% of your time on coding/development and the rest in a technical leadership capacity reviewing work and setting direction for the team ensuring successful completion of deliverables.

    Your responsibilities will include

  • Assist in providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of global solutions
  • Use a deep understanding of HomeAway systems to provide technical leadership in integration of off-platform systems with HomeAway’s data schema
  • Develop scalable, tested and reliable applications for a fast-paced distributed SOA environment
  • Be comfortable driving development through agile software lifecycle from concept to production and beyond
  • Find creative and simple solutions to challenging problems, with a focus on getting things done in a test & learn culture
  • Build relationships with technical leaders across the HomeAway business to ensure effective technical collaboration
  • Appreciate and enhance a dynamic and close-knit software development team committed to mutual learning through technical leadership, peer code reviews and innovation
  • Be encouraged to participate in HomeAway’s inventive culture including contributing to inner source, open source, HackAway and HomeAway technical blogs.
  • Qualifications & Experience required to be successful in this role

  • Masters or Honours in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with Java, Node or React (essential)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Maven, Git, Jenkins or TeamCity (essential)
  • Knowledge of TDD, BDD, microservices and event-driven frameworks
  • Experience in working with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban (essential)
  • Able to positively adapt to change within new work structures, processes or requirements
  • Generates innovative solutions in work situations, trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities.
  • Clear and concise communicator who can effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ensures high quality output and acts to correct quality problems.
  • Experience collaborating on a cross-functional and cross-geography team
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
