Battleship New Jersey

If you're searching for an educational opportunity during your New Jersey vacation, plan on spending a day at the historic Battleship New Jersey. This floating museum gives guests a chance to tour one of the naval fleet's most impressive vessels from the past century. The U.S.S. New Jersey was first launched Dec. 7, 1942, just one year after the invasion at Pearl Harbor, and was one of the navy's premier ships during the battles of the Pacific. Since the second World War, this fearsome battleship has provided ground troops with nautical support in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and houses an impressive arsenal capable of sinking almost any foe in the blink of an eye. Tours will allow visitors to traverse the ship's decks, galleys and command outposts for a chance to see some of the inner-workings of a naval flagship. Other highlights include aircraft simulators, USO-style shows, an on-board mystery show and other awesome activities. Tickets range from $21.50 for adults to $17 for senior citizens and children ages 5 and older. Kids younger than 5 and military veterans are granted free entry. The battleship is closed on major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but is otherwise open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the winter, spring and autumn, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer months.
