Phoenix, Arizona is a large city with numerous neighborhoods like Ahwatukee. Ahwatukee vacation rentals make up a portion of the neighborhood that borders South Mountain Park. These centrally located Ahwatukee condos offer close proximity to cities like Chandler, Tempe and Guadalupe for exploration. Currently, Ahwatukee vacation homes are in one of the top 15 urban villages of the southern U.S.
Ahwatukee vacation rentals and Ahwatukee condos were developed in part by the Presley Development Company in 1971. The company is owned by Elvis Presley’s uncle. The land was purchased in order to make the area a retirement and vacation community, separate from the rest of Phoenix, which is why many of the Ahwatukee vacation homes are rented throughout the year.
South Mountain Park, close to Ahwatukee condos, provides a place for hiking, bike riding and desert exploration. To the south is the Gila River Indian Community, which you’ll need special permission to enter. Due to these points, Ahwatukee vacation rentals are geographically isolated from Phoenix, though the theaters, event centers and museums are only 10 to 30 minutes away by car.
Ahwatukee vacation homes are highly sought in winter so it is important to make an early booking. Winter months in Arizona are warm, with cool evenings. In summer, it can be too hot to visit this region, since temperatures are generally a dry 100 degrees Fahrenheit on most days. August is monsoon season in Arizona, lending to cool afternoon showers. Ahwatukee sees about 12 inches of rainfall in a year and hardly ever sees freezing temperatures. As a result of the climate, the desert is mostly barren with native cactus plants, reptiles and birds. From some of the homes, it may be possible to see snow on the Sierra Estrella Mountains which is southwest of Ahwatukee.
