Spectacular house, great location.

The house was as promised! Well appointed, comfortable, well equipped, clean and conveniently located. While it is private it is not 'isolated' as we had 4-5 visitors to the beach every day who accessed through an adjoining property. The amenities were as advertised and our chef, Kaynell Scavella, thought the kitchen had everything she needed. I would recommend her highly if you want a few tasty meals prepared and the cost is comparable to the expensive restaurants. The meals she prepared were the best we had in the whole ten days.
The owners were very responsive when we had an issue with the TV, sending not one but two people to make the correction. They were also excellent to work with throughout the rental process as was Matthew Simon. Matthew is a great resource for all things Eleuthera.
The kayaks were great for exploring the nearby islands and the snorkeling right at the house was as good as we needed. At low tide you can walk to the island from the point just down the beach.
The gardner started fires for us 3-4 nights and carried wood over so we could start our own. Kingsley was helpful and responsive to our needs which were few indeed.
If you are looking for a convenient location (4 miles from GH), a great house, wonderful beach and some evening fires beach side. This is it!
The only possible suggestion we have would be to have a cooler available so when you go to the beaches on the Atlantic side you can pack a lunch. We ended up buying a cheapo styrofoam one but it did not last the whole trip!
Some tips
Burrows for groceries and adult beverages.
Skip Tippy's but do eat at the Beach House, Banks Deli and Pammy's
Go to Tarpum bay for fresh fish and buy a conch salad from the street vendor.
Hangout at French Leave Beach
Bring lots of bug juice
Skip Lighthouse beach unless you have a 4 wheel drive
Go to the GH fish fry but you have to stay late to see the locals perform
Thanks to all who helped make my wife's 60th BD one she will remember.

Private Paradise!

  • 5 of 5
House is spectacular--just like in pictures. Traveled with 2 teenagers, who were thrilled with the kayaks and exploring the islands off the private beach. We wanted a secluded, private, QUIET vacation--and this fit the bill perfectly. Mr. Sands the care taker was extremely generous with his freshly picked tomatoes--in MARCH--what a treat! Definitely worth the trip to the local market for fresh veggies. He was also very helpful for us finding medical care. Snorkeling is better out near the islands, but the shallows near the beach are like a nursery for sea life--many baby fish, starfish, sand dollars, sponges, and rays. You can walk out to the first island at low tide--so fun! Like having your own giant private pool. Only saw 3 other people from the house down the beach a couple of times. Beds are comfy, and the kids appreciated the wi-fi. Make sure you wear long pants/sleeves if you plan to enjoy the beach night, the sand fleas will devour you. Easy travelling to many beaches-lots of variety on the island. Trips to looking glass bridge, Cape Eleuthera Institute, and Tippy's worth it. If you are looking for pure relaxation, reading/writing, family/couple bonding, kayaking, cooking your own meals in a nice relaxed pace, this is where you want to be. If you are looking for a Nassau type experience--this is NOT it (THANKFULLY!).
