First I would like to say that Charlotte was very pleasant to work with and helpful when arranging the booking. The apartment was nice and comfortable as described. It had all the necessary amenities and was just 5 minutes walk to the metro station and about a 30 minute train ride from the central Paris attractions/landmarks. We didn't have any problems with the apartment.
Having said that, our check-in and check-out experiences were not very good. Charlotte was out of the country so we met her friend Valerie who takes care of the apartment when Charlotte is out. Valerie was also very nice, but she doesn't speak any language other than French, AT ALL. She was supposed to be the person who provided information and instructions on how to use everything in the apartment. She also had no idea that we had paid the rent in full prior to arrival, and was expecting us to give her the rent payment. I had to show her some emails confirming the payments were already made, but she said Charlotte did not communicate this to her. On top of that we forgot our checkbook so we couldn't write a check for the security deposit. This was our fault, but Valerie still had no idea what to do. All of this was very difficult to discuss because we couldn't communicate. We tried to call Charlotte several times but we could not reach her. I downloaded a French translation app on my mobile, but it wasn't helpful enough. Valerie had to call her son, who speaks English, to help translate. The process took almost an hour. There was also no check-in walkthrough, so there was no documentation of anything that wasn't working (although pretty much everything was). When Valerie came back to check the apartment before check-out, I told her we found the shower-head holder broken when we arrived, but she seemed to think we broke it.
We tried to call Charlotte at check-in, check-out, and throughout our stay but we were never able to reach her. We sent her an email when we arrived at her apartment but she never responded.
