This is a wonderful hideaway tucked up a hill outside Pisa. Its a unique family home, with special touches including great paintings by the owner. This is certainly not your run-of-the-mill, ordinary holiday home.
The family are very friendly indeed, and help to make the stay trouble free. We still felt we had privacy and tranquility. We had a group of 6, various ages, and it was no problem.
There was plenty of cooking equipment and cutlery etc. Though we ate out most days. There is just the one bathroom so you have to queue occasionally but thats OK. Plenty of hot water.
The views are breathtaking, and the sights and sounds of cicadas and birds etc are great. There are plenty of places to visit within easy reach, such as Lucca, the beach, and Pisa.
Florence is very easy to reach by train from Pisa Centrale, only takes an hour, and very cheap.
There is a train station in St Guiliano (close by) from where you can get into central Pisa Centrale in ten minutes. Though I'd still recommend a car (if only to get up the hill to the house!)
The pool is a reasonable size, and certainly so welcome after a day sight-seeing, (or at any time actually)
As a place to visit Italy or Tuscany for the first time it cannot be faulted.
