Our stay at the Bamboo Cottage on the Beach was even more of what we were looking for than we even knew we were looking for.
The cottage is quiet, quaint, cozy, clean and comfortable. The pictures are an excellent representation of the property, unlike a lot of the properties we looked at. Nothing in front of your view of the water and it's about 150 feet from the door at most. The public beach just a short walk away is an extra bonus. There is a life guard there that would be handy for a family with children. Cafe is great and there is nightly live music. Close enough to enjoy but far enough to not bother you. Also a nice place across the road for burgers and brews, Skinny's place is a two minute walk. CVS and a Publix is a five minute walk. The free Trolley stops at the public beach. Cortez Village is a ten minute drive with some great seafood places to eat at. We loved The Swordfish restaurant, right on the water and so much fun.
Anna Maria Island is old school Florida at it's finest. No chains like McDonalds, Subway, etc, just good old local businesses. And one of the best things we found were the people! Everybody was as friendly as could be. Unusual for a tourist town in my experience. We will no longer need to look for a place to go for vacation every year. We found exactly what we want, need and enjoy at Bamboo cottage on Anna Maria. Getting there is so easy! Leaving there is so hard! About 45 minute drive from St. Pete or Tampa airports. Turn left on Gulf Drive and you're there!
You just won't find a cozier place than the Bamboo cottage and you won't find a finer owner than Alice. It may not be the right place for everybody but it's 'home' to us.
