My parents and I stayed in this property, and were absolutely in love with all its charm and interesting features. We were very comfortable in the home, and it was well-located for day trips to Provence and the Riviera.
The home is located on a pedestrian road near the small town's main square and church. We were able to unload our luggage nearby, but walked about 5 minutes to the public lot where we could park. We were always luckily able to find the last spot! The town of Pelissanne is small and the nearby area has a couple of bars/cafes and basic shops- the small produce shop around the corner has wonderful fruits and vegetables, and a great bakery a block away opens very early, perfect for picking up breakfast.
We had bad luck with the restaurants in town being closed, so we cooked in the beautiful (well-stocked) kitchen and ate on the patios for some meals. The courtyard and roof were nice places to sit with coffee or wine, and enjoy the summer mornings and nights. Be aware, the impressive stone spiral staircase is a bit treacherous for kids or older guests. And be careful if you are tall, as the doorways aren't!
We slept with the doors and windows open for air, which caused a bit of a wind-tunnel in the house one night (slamming doors and windows, spooky!). It was sort of warm without them open, and some fans would be a nice addition, especially for summer. Also, the stone streets echo all the neighborhood noise, but fortunately they were only a problem one night. The church bells were a natural alarm clock at 7am, and the rooftop is a perfect place to watch the bird circle the bell-tower at dawn and dusk.
Yvette, the housekeeper, checked us in and gave us a thorough run-down of the home (only in French, so it was fun to try to communicate with the help of dictionaries!) During our 4 nights there, she went far and above to make our stay as perfect as possible, and we were very, very thankful for her kindness. A storm had knocked out the wifi, and she would not rest until it was resolved! She was truly an angel in so many ways. Thank you!!
We day-tripped to Gordes, Nice, Orange, and Avignon from our base in Pelissanne, and we found it very convenient. On our last night, Yvette told us about a medieval festival in nearby Salon. I would love to visit in July during the other festivals, advertised around town! We had a great adventure full of stories in this home! It is beautiful and so fun to explore all the rooms!
