Perfect house in the perfect town

  • 5 of 5
I miss this place and I want to go back.

We stayed for two weeks (me, my wife, my parents, and our 1 year old son) and had an incredible, perfect, enjoyable, and memorable stay.

The stay started with the nicest greeting and tour from the property manager, Yvette. She showed us all of the the ins and outs of the house and then even took us on a driving tour of Pelissanne, including the grocery store.

For the next two weeks, we enjoyed this beautifully restored old stone home. The house is very, very spacious and every corner is unique and well-designed. Despite the lack of climate control, we were always comfortable. On a couple of nights, the fans we brought helped us sleep, but it was always nice.

We had dinner every night on the rooftop terrace, a stunning view of the town.

The kitchen was well-equipped for lots of cooking.

And the town is perfect. Rick Steves has never been there and it is probably not on any tourist map anywhere. So, you get to just enjoy walking to the butcher, the bread maker, and the little grocery stores. There is a cute little park and a couple of friendly cafes.

Long-term parking is about a 2-minute walk away, but you can always pull your car up to the front door for loading and unloading.

Pelissanne is ideally located for visits to the rest of Provence. You're a 5-minute drive from the A7, which gets you quick access to Marsaille, Avignon, Aix, Chateauneuf de Pape, etc.

I can't think of anything negative. Tip: you might have to manually turn the power on for the water-heater if you want hot water all day.

Impressive home with so much character!

My parents and I stayed in this property, and were absolutely in love with all its charm and interesting features. We were very comfortable in the home, and it was well-located for day trips to Provence and the Riviera.

The home is located on a pedestrian road near the small town's main square and church. We were able to unload our luggage nearby, but walked about 5 minutes to the public lot where we could park. We were always luckily able to find the last spot! The town of Pelissanne is small and the nearby area has a couple of bars/cafes and basic shops- the small produce shop around the corner has wonderful fruits and vegetables, and a great bakery a block away opens very early, perfect for picking up breakfast.

We had bad luck with the restaurants in town being closed, so we cooked in the beautiful (well-stocked) kitchen and ate on the patios for some meals. The courtyard and roof were nice places to sit with coffee or wine, and enjoy the summer mornings and nights. Be aware, the impressive stone spiral staircase is a bit treacherous for kids or older guests. And be careful if you are tall, as the doorways aren't!

We slept with the doors and windows open for air, which caused a bit of a wind-tunnel in the house one night (slamming doors and windows, spooky!). It was sort of warm without them open, and some fans would be a nice addition, especially for summer. Also, the stone streets echo all the neighborhood noise, but fortunately they were only a problem one night. The church bells were a natural alarm clock at 7am, and the rooftop is a perfect place to watch the bird circle the bell-tower at dawn and dusk.

Yvette, the housekeeper, checked us in and gave us a thorough run-down of the home (only in French, so it was fun to try to communicate with the help of dictionaries!) During our 4 nights there, she went far and above to make our stay as perfect as possible, and we were very, very thankful for her kindness. A storm had knocked out the wifi, and she would not rest until it was resolved! She was truly an angel in so many ways. Thank you!!

We day-tripped to Gordes, Nice, Orange, and Avignon from our base in Pelissanne, and we found it very convenient. On our last night, Yvette told us about a medieval festival in nearby Salon. I would love to visit in July during the other festivals, advertised around town! We had a great adventure full of stories in this home! It is beautiful and so fun to explore all the rooms!
