Sandbox Studio is a great little rental.
My husband I like like to rent homes when we go to the Caribbean and we don't generally go to the same island twice. This makes it hard because we are always on a learning curve. Pictures don't always tell the truth so we are usually pretty skeptical of what the rental situation will be when we get there. We found Sandbox Studio to be nicer than the pictures that they show on VBRO and there were no unpleasant surprises . I say nicer because I don't think that the online pictures do Stephen's yard justice. The studio is actually a separate house from the main home. We found it to have plenty of privacy and quiet. Quiet can be hard to come by in the Caribbean. The owners are helpful and attentive when you need them but gave us our privacy when we didn't. The rental had everything that we needed and everything was well maintained. I had packed a blow dryer, beach towels and an iron just in case but none of it was needed. The house is on a quiet residential beach front street but it is one block from the bus stop and the buses run regularly. You can easily get to Holetown and other tourist locations by bus if you don't want to rent a car. If you do rent a car, the house has enough parking. The beachfront was great for long walks. The locals seemed to enjoy it but it was never crowded. The neighborhood is prosperous. (The house next door rents for $1300 a night) so everyone chips in for a night watchmen to patrol the beach area. The first day in a rental when you arrive with too much cash and you don't know anything about the area can be unsettling but there was a small but pretty intense safe and deadbolt locks and I would feel safe there even if I was staying alone. The studio is all on one level with no stairs necessary when going from the car to the unit. I tell you this because I accidentally rented a place in St. John that had 700 stairs to the beach:)
