I am not reviewing my stay as a renter but as a former resident. My father built this house in his spare time from teaching at Saugerties High School. He raised 4 children in this house in the 70's and 80's. We used to heat the house with a woodstove that was inserted into the brick fireplace - which is now painted white! That was a surprise to see. The kitchen has been rearranged and looks nicely updated. The outside looks familiar except for the new deck. Very nice addition. The pond freezes so well in the winter that we would spend all day ice skating and sledding from the hill down onto the pond. There is a huge rock on the property that we would pretend was a big ship and we would sail everywhere on it. The yard was big enough that all the kids from the neighborhood would come over and play softball. We made maple syrup from the trees on the site. We even witnessed the pond turtles laying their eggs in the yard each year. Dad raised pigs, sheep, chickens, beagles, horses, and even a cow in the barn over the years. Not sure if it is even there any more. My brother and I even competed in horse shows when we were little ones. I hope who ever stays here realizes that this house was full of love when it was built and those good memories will hopefully be found by those that stay. PS The views from the second floor west side bedrooms of the mountains are amazing! And the peepers and bullfrogs sung regularly. Enjoy!
