Our family of 4 (kids 9 and 3) enjoyed our stay at Zoltan and Alicia's very comfortable cottage. We were there for 4 nights in June (off-season) and it was the kids' first trip to Mexico. The house really did fit our needs quite perfectly. The highlights included the amazingly comfortable master bed, the secure parking (we had a rental car), a fresh mango every day from the tree out front, and the very relaxing swimming pool. Zoltan and Alicia have young children of their own, and let us use some of their floatie pool toys, which came in very handy.
With our rental car we were on the go quite a bit and so it was nice that the house is located right on the main highway. There, however, wasn't any traffic noise that we were aware of.
The town (Teya) is a typical poor Mexican town with nothing of interest to tourists -- no shops, parks, plazas, or anything like that. That said, we did walk around just to take it all in -- Mexico isn't all pretty towns and beaches -- there is a "real" Mexico that we wanted our kids to get a tiny taste of on this trip.
The one thing in Teya is a fabulous restaurant (Hacienda Teya) where we probably had the best Yucatecan meal of our entire vacation. You've got to go there at least once if you stay here!
Zoltan was extremely helpful to us, as previous reviewers have stated. He lent us his local cell phone and gave us good information about things to see and do in the area. It happened to be Father's Day and he brought us a six-pack of beer to help us celebrate! Very thoughtful!
