It's easy to forget how hard it is to constantly achieve 5 star ratings, but once you see it in effect you fully understand why it's done consistently.
This home was perfect. We stayed there, 8 guests, 3 dogs.. no issues.
It's location is semi-private yet easily accessed, the location is right next to the beach but what is most important are the amenities.
If you have pets, large amount of people, or both.. this house is laid out perfect.
The downstairs kennel with nearby water hose is the perfect spot to give the dogs a quick rinse and cool down in the shade with fresh water, after a long day at the beach. Combine with the latched gate up the stairs to the patio, I couldn't imagine a better dog friendly setup.
The upstairs deck is enormous, the pictures don't do it justice. It's hard to quantify but if I were setting up ping pong tables.. I could comfortably have 3 active games being played at once, with spectators and room to spare.
The layout out of the house is spectacularly thought out, the kitchen was a breeze to work with (I cooked breakfast and dinner for 10 people, 5 nights straight and I work in a restaurant for a living.. so I feel I'm qualified to give that opinion). Furthermore the kitchen was very well stocked, various basic pots, pans, blender, coffee maker, pans, dishware, glass ware... even wine glasses and a good spice rack. Everything you need is there, really.
Outside of the usual outdoor basics, gas grill etc. you even have a sea kayak, life vets, water toys, plenty of chairs, etc.
Peter, in his emails, and Betsy, in the short phone conversation I had with her, were responsive, agreeable and very friendly.
For the price, for what we received, needed, and expected.... I couldn't be happier. I'm already planning my trip for next summer at the same property.
The only note I have is that the beach here is very mild. I know Galveston isn't known for it's big waves plus wave size is affected by weather/season, but overall, the ocean for our week seemed very tame. Even at the second sand bar, which typically produces larger waves, there was barely anything over 4 feet high. This is an overall positive for families with smaller kids, small dogs, older families, but if you're looking for a more raucous seafront, this may not be it it (from my limited exposure).
