After spending a winter weekend in the charming carriage house we booked a week in the stunning main chateau for our anniversary in September. We were not disappointed as this fabulous country estate is strategically placed in a cul de sac on a private drive overlooking Lake Michigan. The sunsets we witnessed were captivating and the sound of the waves lulled us to sleep each night. Our dog, not really requiring much stress relief, was also hypnotized by the coastal sounds and serenity. This custom designed home by Frederick Crosley Ball is masterfully laid out, decorated like a model home and exudes quality in every feature and detail. We enjoyed cooking in the gourmet kitchen as well as superb farm-to-table dining at Pond Hill Farm. And who could forget the fresh menu at Julienne Tomatoes in Petoskey! The screened in porch off the gourmet kitchen was medicinal to visit with a Scotch whisky or glass of wine along with a book or to just stare at the majestic view of Lake Michigan. We thoroughly enjoyed our time as country squires and left renewed, with a well rested dog.
