Our two months in this location were very enjoyable, and we hated to leave! The unit was all it was advertised to be and more. It was very clean and is obviously well kept. In addition to the property being quiet, restful and relaxing, we found the neighbors to be friendly and helpful. While the pool is located across the street, its location provides spectacular views of St. Petersburg, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and a very large part of Tampa Bay. Sunsets from this location we found breathtaking!
Sunrises from the verandah of the unit are equally impressive, and provide a positive start to the day. All manner of birds and sea critters entertain daily, often hourly. We had pelicans diving for baitfish beside the seawall, and manatees and dolphins regularly swim past the unit. The dolphins, in particular, put on a Seaworld type show, jumping completely out of the water. We've even seen them tossing a fish back and forth thru the air! In addition, mullet and other fish can also be seen making leaps into the air. Ospreys, roseatte spoonbills, pelicans, ibis, herons, cranes, mockingbirds, cormorants, ducks, and, of course, gulls are among the bird species we saw while sitting on the verandah.
We kept our boat in one of the nearby marinas (there are three close by, two within walking distance), and caught seatrout, Spanish mackerel, pompano, redfish, mangrove snapper, lady fish, and sharks while there. Because we had our own boat, we did not charter a fishing trip, but there are a number of guides located nearby who can provide successful angling opportunities, again just a short walk away.
All kinds of entertainment opportunities exist. Two really good restaurants are located two blocks away - Hooks and Sunset Grille. We recommend both. The fish at Hooks is excellent! Beanies on highway 41 has a really good reuben, and Ybor Grille on East Shell Point Road provides a great Cuban Sandwich. We found St. Vito's pizza the best around, but get it carry-out. Service dining in is very slow. Tampa Downs race track and Hardrock Seminole Casino are less than an hour away for those who like to wager. We drove out to Fort DeSoto for an afternoon, and found it to be very interesting. With Orlando being about an hour and a half away, and the east coast only two and a half hours, all kinds of other opportunities open up.
We have to say that the owners are easy to work with, and are very accommodating. We look forward to return visits - in fact, can't wait!
