For the past 7 years I have rented several vacation homes from Florida to North Carolina, I have learned that I want to rent a home that is similar to my home and not a museum. This house is just that! Very clean, comfortable and liveable. A place where children can be children.
The property was clean and well-maintained and the listing photos were very accurate.
Susan (the owner) thought of everything. She was very easy to work with, so I will recommend this house to everyone.
Wildlife: When we arrived a manatee was swimming near the docks. We were wowed! Then the next day we had a snowy ibis visit us on the deck...lots of pictures and sketching.
Docks: The two docks are a great asset to the house. Our grandchildren (9 & 5) loved using the rope swing and jumping from the dock several hours each day while the adults sat on the other one. Plenty of places to tie up our kayaks which we totally felt safe leaving them in the water. We only took out one of the house's canoes (1-man) which was just as fun as our kayaks.
Roomy: The house was very roomy. The kids slept in the bedroom with the twin beds and the 1/2 bath. This room was perfectly situated in the house because it was far enough away from the main living area where the adults played board games far into the night without distrubing the children.
Kitchen: The kitchen was very roomy, with lots of cupboards, counter space, pots/pans, plates, silverware, etc. I especially liked the bar 6 + stools to sit on, so we never pulled out the dining table. I made the mistake of packing a few kitchen items, but I didn't need them because the kitchen is very, very equipped.
Outdoors: There is no other place in Florida that provides such a varied array of outdoor adventures. We paddled up the river and there are numerous shallow places to pull off and swim. You can freshwater fish off the docks or take a short ride and do some salt-water fishing at Bayport, Jenkins Creek or Hernando Beach. If you want to go to a beach you have 2 options, Rogers Park (on the river) or Pine Island (salt water).
This property brought back many fond memories of growing up on the Weeki Wachee, so take break from the mundane and visit this river, because as words of the old Mermaid song goes, "Weeki Wachee is the place to be..." and it is!
