Peaceful

We took a girls trip to Nashua. Was a little further than I thought from Omaha and we got lost once we were there. But once we found the cabin it was great. The living, dining and kitchen are a very good size. Although we had neighbors on each side of us, we never heard them. It was so quiet. Finally on Sunday we saw some jet ski's and boats go by. Everyone is friendly and waving.
We took the canoe up the river (about 500 ft) to a sand bank. We had attached our floats and had a cooler with drinks and snacks. River was low enough where we could walk a good part of the way. It was sooooo relaxing. Also loved the hot tub and fire pit.
Had a problem getting the grill started. Only worked once. Not sure if was us or it was out of propane. Either way we just cooked on the stove and enjoyed our meal on the deck overlooking the river.
Also took a stroll around Charles City. A very nice town.
I would recommend this to anyone who just needs to get away for some downtime!

Relaxing and Secluded

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I wanted to go somewhere private and quiet for our anniversary when we stumbled across this little gem tucked away off the banks of Cedar River. We've done bed and breakfast type places and smaller, more scenic, inn's before, but none this secluded and relaxing. We ended up taking full advantage of the amenities including the canoe, hot tub, fire pit and gas grill.

Every meal we cooked there was better than the last and even cooked steak over a bed of coals on the fire pit, which is one of the best steaks I've ever eaten.

Be prepared to take a little jog down a gravely country road and have zero cell signal at the cabin, but just embrace it. There are so few places you can go now a days that are that off the grid, that it was fantastic to not even have that as an option to check your e-mail or text anyone. Embrace the moment and breathe in the fresh air and serene scenic view.

My wife is already talking about making plans to go back. A recommendation for anyone looking to completely disconnect and relax in a place that seems almost too good to be true.
