By now you've read everywhere that the Honua Kai Resort & Spa is amazing! Bringing our two children with us after two visits to Maui (one on our honeymoon almost 22 years prior) was a dream come true! The resort is all everyone says it is on all the reviews you read. The photographs don't lie!
Luxurious yet family friendly and definitely a natural oasis. We enjoyed various meals and drinks at Duke's Beach House which is exceptional. But, having the ability to cook both in the unit and on the community gas grills was both a money and a calorie saver!
A skeptic by nature, I read the unit's description and wondered, really, if the owners were exaggerating the benefits of a first floor unit. I wondered if the view would be as nice and if we'd feel secure. Well, it was everything they said it would be and more! We felt like our private lanai went on forever. In addition to the concrete lanai we had grass, a koi pond and a walkway beyond. Running back to the unit from the pool or beach for something we forgot was simple and easy. In fact, due to availability we need to finish our stay in an 8th floor unit and the layout was not as spacious and the walk through the hallways was very inconvenient.
The interior layout was a real plus for us. The living and dining areas are separate providing a lot of floor space to move around. The bedroom is extra large for a one bedroom unit providing plenty of floor space for our luggage and other items. The fully stocked kitchen was a pleasure to make meals in. The 'extras' including chairs, snorkeling gear, boogie board, etc. made our stay extra comfortable and fun. We noticed that other units required the rental of beach towels. And, the bed was so comfortable!
We wish this wasn't so far from our home in Massachusetts or we'd be planning another trip back asap!
