I have traveled the world and rented many condos and homes with various vacation goals in mind. This one tops the list. Our goal this time was rest and relaxation and to be close to water. This place delivered in spades.
In five days we feel as if we have never left the ocean. It is omnipresent in the condo unit, filling the walls of glass that slide open to create an incredible indoor/outdoor space both in the living room/kitchen and bedroom. We never left the condo before noon most days, preferring to open the unit up to the gentle breeze, listen to the waves crashing, while reading and having our morning coffee.
The bed was incredibly comfortable and having access to a washer dryer was great -- especially for drying beach towels.
We thought the weather might be oppressively hot and very rainy, given the time of year we came (early Oct). But we were presently surprised. Our weather.com app said it would be raining every day. What that meant was an evening sprinkle or 10 minute downpour shortly after sunset and one morning we had cloud and rain until 11:00 am, but it then cleared to gorgeous skies. Don't avoid PVR at this time of year. It quieter, good restaurants are opening after having been closed for Sept. and are eager for customers.
The roof-top pool and lounge: This is the icing on the cake, my friends. The elevator directly outside the unit's door whisks you up to the roof in a minute and you exit to an infinity pool lined with cobalt blue tiles and an incredible view of the sea. The photos of the pool do not do it justice on the site. It is much bigger than it appears in the pictures. Also, the view behind, to the mountains is equally stunning, facing a wall of lush jungle. We always ended our day in the pool watching the sunset with a cold beer in hand. And in 5 days we only ran into other people up there once. A morning swim is also nice.
The location is perfect. Great foodie restaurants walking distance. We recommend Archie's Wok (a local establishment founded by John Huston's personal chef), Joe Jack's Fish Shack, Margarita Grill for good Mexican, and Cafe des Artistes for a special night out. The steps to the beach from the condo are easy going down and if you fear coming back up them you can easily take the road with a more gradual incline. The only downside is that there is occasional noise pollution from the two dance clubs between the condo and the beach. But this was paradise!
