We've been back now a few weeks from our stay at Casa De Olas, and we’re still overwhelmed at the awesomeness of that place.
We (wife and 4 kids) frequently rent from owners, around the globe, and have had some really great experiences, but this one—as my wife kept saying—was out of the park!
First—the beauty, cleanliness, comfort and chill-outness of the house, and especially the grounds, really isn't fully captured in the pictures. When we arrived, rather late at night, we felt like pulling in to a 5 star boutique property. The place is absolutely manicured and gorgeously lit at night—what a great first impression.
It didn't stop there… we quickly realized everything about the property was extremely nice/comfortable and, to boot, the property has a fantastic lay out. For example, we absolutely loved the covered porch which quickly became our main hangout for lounging and eating meals. It really made it easy to stay outside almost our entire stay (and we didn't notice any bugs, which was amazing because one of my daughters gets attacked almost any place we go). The pool is huge and fun, of course the kids could not get enough of it. Having the ocean, pool, luxurious shaded lounger and a kitchen within a few steps, is frankly unbeatable!
The area is great as well, as you can read from other reviews in the area (e.g., Villa Tropical). To be able to beach comb (with loads of interesting shoreline pools and sea life), snorkel (which was better than expected) and do all sorts of ocean sports in one spot is very rare, and we thoroughly enjoyed it (and we're not that easily impressed after having lived on a beach in Hawaii for 5 years). We also enjoyed walking to the neighborhood restaurant (Ola Lolas--great place) and to do horseback riding (super cool experiences with our daughters, ages 6 & 8, getting to ride their own horses for the first time). The neighborhood was super friendly as well—everyone just seemed so happy to be there.
The owner couldn't have been better. He answered every question I had, was super thoughtful on providing stuff we might need, and was just great to work with.
Given all this, we booked again for next year (my wife refused to leave without knowing we would be back), which was the first time we've ever done that.
Thanks again Casa De Olas--we'll see you next year!
