When my best friend and I arrived for our 2013 week's vacation, we gasped as we entered the front door of Port and saw the breathtaking and spectacular view of the harbor out the sliding glass door directly ahead. The condo was immaculately clean, the living room comfy and cozy whether we were watching TV at night or drinking coffee and watching the sun come up in the mornings. Had we been inclined to cook at all, the kitchen had everything from lobster pots to an electric griddle for cooking. My friend stayed in the loft, and I stayed in the master bedroom downstairs; both were comfortable and plenty spacious. The washer and dryer were a real bonus as we didn't have to come home with a suitcase full of dirty clothes, and the hot tub on the back patio overlooking the harbor was sheer luxury. Be sure and have breakfast at Sea Biscuit and Grumpy's, both just up the street. This would be a perfect getaway for all except those with mobility issues as sleeping quarters are either up in the loft or down a fairly narrow stairway. The Southwest Harbor location is close to the bigger and more touristy Bar Harbor (which was great fun for a couple of day trips) as well as to Acadia National Park entrances, where we took some great hikes (and for those of you in your 60's, 70's or even 80's, there were plenty of us not athletic types out there walking the trails and scaling the rocks!). If I ever returned to Bar Harbor, Port would be my #1 pick for a place to stay.
