This is a perfect place to enjoy Ocracoke at its best. Can't say enough about the location and space. The studio and fenced patio space are private, pretty, and relaxing. (Clean and comfortable too. Love that outdoor shower.) It's like living there, if you were so lucky.
There are plenty of good places to eat on Ocracoke, or you can utilize the full kitchen to enjoy your own meals and snacks. (We did both.)
Parking is right at the garden gate, with many of the island's best attractions within super easy walking or cycling distance.
The owner, Debbie, was available but unobtrusive, which was great as we just wanted time alone
Couple of details:
* We loved sleeping in the loft but you have to be comfortable with ladder climbing to use it.
* The studio offers A/C climate control, a fan or natural ventilation. We used all three as needed to suit conditions, with a preference for going natural when possible.
* Speaking of natural, Ocracoke has biting insects. Choose your own coping mechanism, but expect to deal with that!
* Try to arrive with a minimum of extra packaging that will end up as trash. It's a remote island. Everything has to be hauled in and hauled out. It's a good idea to treat your visit as upscale camping, with a little extra attention to what you bring and the kind of impact your stay will have on the surroundings.
This was a great way to enjoy a special place. We came off-season in September and would recommend that as an excellent travel month. No crowds. Outstanding beaches and the swimming is still delightfully warm.
