When renting online you of course pay attention to the description, but also the reviews. After reading the reviews, I thought - how could I go wrong. I was right - this place is a wonderful.
This property is cute, eclectic and very rustic. All of the bedrooms have AC, but the main living area didn't. I think the idea is that if you have the front and back sliding doors open, the breeze cools off the living area, however our group was a little crab, hermit crab, lizard adverse so we opted to keep the doors closed most days. This sometimes made it a little warm, but doable.
As others have said, Ana and Luis are really wonderful. They speak very little English, but we were able to communicate the big stuff just fine. For the cost, you can't beat having Ana available to cook for you. Our group had her make all of our meals and it was absolutely fantastic.
Luis was also very good at keeping the pool and property well kept. He cleaned the pool and raked the beach every day. He was also on hand when a little crab blocked me from going up to my room one evening. Having him around made me feel very safe - he rushed off anyone who tried to come on property and solicit the group ( Ana was also very good at that as well).
The only challenge was getting to/from Tamarindo after dark. The water taxis work fine during the day, but at night, there wasn't anything to get to on our own. One night we hired a driver to take us out, but it cost about $100RT ( I told my friend it was an expensive bar crawl). I saw other reviews on the Bula Bula and the Wilmart, but we didn't have any instructions on how to get there, so we relied heavily on Nova for our needs. It would have been nice to have this information written down for little things that we needed like extra water, or soda. I would highly advise against swimming the estuary as there are salt-water crocodiles and apparently they hunt at night. There is a grocery store (Auto-Mercado)in Tamarindo; the ATM dispenses colones and US dollars.
Future renters who want to do things in the evening may want to consider getting a car. We saw other tourist who did that and they got around just fine, but as others have said, the roads are bumpy.
Nova did a good job with making arrangements to and from airport and with our excursions. There were a couple of hiccups, here and there, but nothing major that would needs to be written about. Overall we had a great experience!
