This was our second stay in Cozumel, and we knew we didn't want to stay in a hotel or all-inclusive resort. We wanted somewhere that we could really move into, and that's what we got. As people mentioned in the reviews, the grounds of Residencias Reef are absolutely beautiful, with lush yet manicured foliage that makes you feel like you are very close to nature. All of that green, plus the ocean, beach, and two pools make this location relaxing and a bit luxurious feeling. While we went into town almost every day of the week to explore, eat at various restaurants, and buy groceries, it was great to come back to peace and quiet. The condo is very quiet, extremely clean, spacious, and has just about everything you need, including a great kitchen and laundry. As snorkelers, we appreciated the hooks in the balcony ceiling for drying our wetsuits & the easy access to a snorkeling boat (right at the pier on the beach). The location of the condo on the island also makes for an easy drive north to the two largest grocery stores (about 15 minutes) and town (about 20 minutes), as well as access to the "wild side" of the island, where you can find the less crowded beaches. I would highly recommend renting a car if you stay at this property (there are car rentals at the airport) unless you plan to mainly stay at the condo. I'd also recommend a whale shark tour to anyone who wants a close encounter with the largest (harmless) shark on the planet. We used Cozumel Whale Shark Tours, after having found very high recommendations on them on TripAdvisor.com. This company respects and animals and follows guidelines, which other companies (as we saw firsthand) do not always do. This is an all-day excursion from Cozumel, but it is a truly incredible experience.
Stephanie was wonderful to deal with, responding quickly to e-mails when we had questions about the condo or Cozumel. We would definitely stay there again.
