I stayed at Horafeliz Condo Apartments for 5 weeks in Nov-Dec 2013 and it was a nice, modest 1 bedroom with 2 huge balconies! The back balcony facing the "Sacred Tree" in the courtyard had a hammock that was so relaxing to lie down on especially after a vigorous yoga teacher training day session! Daniela, the owner was so wonderful and helpful - she provided me with a list of restaurants, supermarkets to go to, and was always available to help out with any questions I had. The apartment is in a safe area, close to everything especially the beautiful beach which I am missing right now! Right across the building is this delicious local seafood restaurant! Down the street you have De Local, Ah Cacao, Piola, Green Box, then Kampai sushi, Chez Celine, Aguachiles...so much to choose from.
The apartment is cleaned 1-2 times a week with fresh linens and towels, there is air conditioning, cable TV, small fridge and stovetop (perfect to make some small meals). Bottled water can be bought down the street at Oxxo, and best of all, there is a great laundry place 1 block around the corner where the service is fast and convenient - drop off your clothes and they are washed and neatly folded for a small fee.
Staying at Horafeliz was a wonderful experience. The building is gated and in a safe, quiet area yet close to the livelihood of 5th Avenue and walking the strip daily was great. This apartment was a lucky find because the owners treat you like family and are so genuine, Daniela and Marco are such a lovely friendly couple. Just like the name of the condo states "Hora Feliz" is truly a "happy" and warm place to stay and the best is that you are greeted with a smile by Daniela each morning :) Both the owners, Daniela and Marco make you feel welcome and are always available to answer any questions you may have about Playa or Mexico in general. Their hospitality is unmatched from any of my travels and stays worldwide and I hope to stay there again.
I highly recommend this affordable accommodation and I hope to be back soon! I miss the beautiful sea and sun, mi Playa del Carmen! ;)
Besote y abrazote Daniela! ~Penelope
