Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by Bettina who proceeded to show us her organic garden, then invited us to cultivate as many strawberries and tomatoes as we wished. She then proceeded to give us a tour of the farmhouse, which we found to be clean, orderly, and even better than we expected. The location was great, very close to the town's largest grocery store and to the entrance to Sequoia National Park. On the property, the horse, donkeys and chickens were huge hits! we did not bring any personal electronics, but the kids were not bored because they loved playing checkers and playing with the musical instruments. We never even watched any movies or TV, even though they were available in the house, it was refreshing to see the kids enjoy themselves in the "old-fashioned" way. We all slept well on the comfortable beds and most of us enjoyed the outdoor bathtub under the stars at night. We hiked throughout Sequoia National Park, went on the Crystal Cave Tour, went swimming at the Hospital Rock swimming hole, and enjoyed a nice meal at the local Mexican restaurant. On the day we left, Bettina gave us some delicious home-grown organic apples, which we all enjoyed on the long ride home. All in all, our trip was a huge success, and we hope to someday return to Bettina's farmhouse.
