Location, location, location....and then some! My two kids and I get one week per summer to spend at the beach and this may have been the best week yet. A short 5 minute walk to a really nice beach, the pier, and several shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere on the south end of the island which was really convenient. We didn't have to drive to the north end but did several times to eat at Huc-a-Poos, go kayaking, visit the lighthouses, take a great dolphin tour with Captain Derek, and to tour Fort Pulaski. (I really have to plug the dolphin cruise. I have been on many and this boat was different. The wake it kicked up had the dolphins racing along-side and jumping the waves! Really awesome.)
The house was bigger then we needed but the extra space was great when we needed space. The upstairs was awesome! The entire floor was the Master bedroom with tasteful furnishings and a beautiful notty-pine floor. With a nice balcony right off the suite, huge bathroom, sitting area with comfortable couch and chair and walk-in closets I found myself not even wanting to leave the room in the morning. Downstairs the kids each had their own bedrooms (w/TVs. A plus for when they got on each other's nerves). The floors were a really cool mixture of notty-pine and stone tiles. There is a nice dining area and at the other end the downstairs living area open and airy, a great place for the kids and I to watch movies or play the video games we brought with us. Kitchen was well-stocked for us and got a fair bit of use for breakfasts and dinners. ANother area that saw alot of use was the covered patio area off the downstairs living room. I spent alot of mornings out there under the celing fan having my coffee and checking news and e-mail (the wifi here afforded connectivity everywhere on the property and was easy to connect to and very stable). My son loved the outdoor whirlpool tub (as well as the one in the master bath) but be prepared to clean it out as it is outdoors and like a pool bugs do end up in it. No big deal though.
This was my first time on Tybee and I will definitely be back. This island is a gem. If you are looking for trendy restaurants, dozens of golf courses, and amusement parks then head for Hilton Head (just across from north Tybee). If you are looking for a really kicked-back beach town without long lines, crowds, and full of friendly folks then treat yourself to Tybee. I would definitely recommend this little house to anyone spending time on Tybeee
