We spent last week at this beautiful place with our daughter and her 3 children (plus some other family for a long weekend). The house and setting were just what we wanted. It was nice NOT to be "on the lake" because we avoided all the boat noise and didn't have to worry about the kids wandering into the lake unattended. Instead, we had the advantage of a very quiet setting only a pleasant 5 minute walk to the community beach, swimming area and boat slip (with its own boat launch). The kids thoroughly enjoyed the dedicated swimming area with sliding board and floating dock (their pirate ship). We met many of the other homeowners in the community all of whom were very friendly and the kids also made several friends of similar ages. With the house set on an acre of land, we enjoyed a large open yard for play for us and our dog (the space you don't normally get with a place "on the lake") and a nice fire pit for s'mores and hot dogs. The house itself had everything--nice bedrooms and baths, well-equipped kitchen, large eating areas and lots of open living areas inside and out on the various decks. It also had large open areas downstairs for the kids to spread out and play. In fact the boys who were about to start their second year of youth football went down there to start practicing! I should add one caveat about the house. Don't leave the doors open; you may have a family of deer or wild turkeys join you for dinner. Finally, in a point not to be overlooked, we found the owners a delight to deal with. They were cooperative and accessible and presented us with a very consumer-oriented and practical lease. If you are planning to vacation at Lake Wallenpaupack, we highly recommend this place.
