Two boomer couples, using Duben Place as 7-night base for exploring Anchorage and day trips - Girdwood, Seward, Denali overnight. Both Duben Place and Michele were perfect choices for us, with a beautifully furnished, very clean, and soo comfortable home and yard, with a well-equipped kitchen (Need spice or ingredient? Its likely there), washer and dryer, plenty of helpful brochures and guidance, and Michele available to answer questions or offer helpful guidance.
We found the place conveniently located on a quiet street about 15 minutes drive from downtown, yet very close to major roads in any direction leading to the days' destinations. Shopping very close by.
We used Duben Place for breakfasts in the mornings, for kitchen-table planning, and for dinners and relaxing, in addition to the two comfortable bedrooms.
Michele also provided discount coupons for some major attractions (Kenai Fjords tours, for example), discounts we did not see offered elsewhere and were certainly appreciated.
Michele is very attentive to the environment and loves animals, particularly her Gunnar the dog, whom we had happy occasion to meet upon arrival, and whose approval we apparently won thanks to his expansive tolerance.
It is pretty rare for lodging and the host to rank as high points of an exceptionally enjoyable vacation, but Duben Place reliably provided us home and welcome lifting our overall enjoyment every day.
We highly recommend Duben Place (and a car).
A car is likely necessary. Access to downtown and parking were easy and inexpensive. Our one cab fare from the house at 3:00 am to the airport was reliable, $33 plus tip.
