We were so fortunate to be able to stay at your beautiful Villa Zandoli at the beginning of February. What a marvelous oasis you have created! The villa and grounds are absolutely magnificent, the view out to Pigeon Island is gorgeous and Velda took such care to make sure that our stay was all that we could wish for!
We spent a lot of time on the main balcony just taking in the view. We never turned on the TV and didn’t miss it a bit – the views over the bay and out to Pigeon Island are much more interesting! We watched several large sailing ships that were anchored for the weekend, the little lizards, and a variety of birds, including the cute and friendly black and yellow bananaquits just outside of our bedroom. We spent many relaxing hours by the pool as well. A bit of sun, a dip in the pool, then start all over again! We walked down the hill and out to Pigeon Island and the beach. Also took a sunset cruise from Rodney Bay and Villa Zandoli looks just as breathtaking from the water. We taxi’d into Gros Islet for dinner on Friday night and stayed for the jump-up. Lots of fun! We also went into Castries to shop at the market. By prior agreement, we purchased some fresh fish at the market and Velda cooked a marvelous dinner for us. We ate local cuisine every night and loved it! Flavors of the Grill and Golden Taste in Gros Islet were our favorites. We just found plantain and dasheen at our market at home in Ohio and want to try to re-create some of the dishes we tried (Velda gave us some tips) but it won’t be the same as being in St. Lucia.
Thank you for sharing Villa Zandoli with us. Our lives are all the richer for the experience. We are having record breaking amounts of snow and frigid temperatures here in Ohio and we are already pining for sunny St. Lucia!
We wish you all the best in your new venture.
