Fun for Everyone!

  • 5 of 5
I visited Vista Linda with a small group in the spring, and absolutely loved it. It's totally private and the views are spectacular. The grounds are lovely and well kept (complete with fresh fruit and cilantro for picking!), and there are a couple of cars ready for use to take to the beaches, in to town, and to the various horse pastures around the island.

I would love to come back with my extended family because it offers something for everyone (plus you don't need to hassle with passports). The main house has an open (but gated and locked at night) first floor, with a pool table and seating for outdoor eating if it's rainy. The grounds are large and enclosed, which is perfect for all of my little cousins to run around while easily supervised from the pool area. The casita is its own, separate house and would be great for my grandparents, so they don't have to climb any stairs, and they'd have a nice view of the pool. For me and my older siblings and cousins, the town offers a lot in terms of restaurants and night life. We had a ton of fun exploring, dancing, and some (very small) gambling. We always felt safe, even late at night. Since most of the people who live on the island travel by horse, you won't encounter drunk drivers.

During the day, there are ample markets, horse back riding, snorkeling and scuba diving, and trips to mainland Puerto Rico for hiking in the jungle. We had no trouble communicating with anyone, even as a group of gringos, since just about everyone speaks English fluently. I would like to learn more Spanish for my next visit, more as a matter of principle and being a responsible traveler than anything else, but it's not essential.

As far as food goes, I could write an entire review on the restaurants alone. If you're looking for something a little more upscale, check out Tradewinds or El Quenepo. I came in convinced I didn't like seafood, and left a convert. If you want more casual and family-friendly, Duffy's offers a great view of the water (and some pretty good margaritas, too!).

Overall an excellent experience. Would recommend for just about any group made up of all ages.

Private and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5
This was my third trip to Vista Linda. The first was a big family getaway with my parents, aunts & uncles, and grandparents. The house suited the occasion perfectly and everyone had their own private space if they wanted it, and lots of places we could (and did) gather as a family. The second was a girls getaway for a 30th birthday and we certainly had a great time in the pool, made good use of Coqui's Cabana, again music sun and fun for everyone! This time it's a retreat for my husband and me while the kids stay with their grandmother. I thought it was relaxing the first two times when we came with lots of people, but now it's just SO peaceful. Dinner can be at the house or we easily pop into town. We love just walking the grounds in the morning - there are pineapples, coconuts, and other fruit growing all over as well as beautiful flowers (hybiscus, orchids, etc.) everywhere you look. Because of the gate, we feel very secure and PRIVATE so we can really relax. There are so many beaches around it's cool to go and explore to see if we can discover a new one. The house has everything you need to stay in or take a picnic out - and we can tell lots of things have been updated since our last stay. We'll definitely come to the house again.

Tips for writing reviews - what to include:

  • What did you most enjoy about your stay?
  • Would you come back again or recommend this home to a friend?
  • Was the property a good fit for the group you were traveling with?
  • What nearby activities, attractions, or restaurants did you enjoy?
  • What did the owner or property manager do to provide great customer service?
