The description of what was awaiting us fit this home to a "T!" The picture you see over the fence to the mountain was what we got to see every time we looked out the windows from the kitchen. Everything was there that we would need to be able to prepare the food we brought with us and there was space in the cupboards for us to put some of our dry goods away.
The property was very nice and everything inside was clean and ready for us when we arrived and the price for renting it for a week was reasonable and worth every penny!
The owner, Bruce, was very helpful and even went out of his way to, as he put it, "Build a fire" for us. He has a small fire pit where he took the time to set up the wood and paper for us to have a fire on an evening he was going to be out. All we had to do was remove the cover he had put over it and light it!
This property was perfect for my wife, daughter and I. I would recommend this property without reservation to my friends and family (and anyone looking for a nice little place for a getaway). A family of up to four, or even two couples would have adequate space here for a weeks vacation.
My wife and I especially liked the fact that this property is on the opposite side of the island from Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor was only about a 20 minute drive, but it was nice to be able to leave all of the activity and touristy stuff behind and go "home" each evening to a quite and peaceful location. If you enjoy the outdoors there are more options to explore than you could cover in a month of vacation on Mt Desert Island. The biggest challenge is deciding what to do. And if you enjoy seafood, or lobster in particular, take a trip to Bernard, near Seal Cove, and find Thurston's Lobster Pound. They have, in my opinion, some of the best lobster around!
