This is a terrific apartment - ideally situated in lovely Cihangir, with a heart-stopping view across the Bospherous. As the photos suggest, the bedrooms are all clean and spacious (with a/c and/or ceiling fans); the kitchen well-equipped (though no microwave) and the living area full of good places to read and rest. The balcony is pretty hot on a morning in July or August, but the view is always fascinating with ferries, ocean-going tankers and small boats constantly crossing each other's wake. In the evening, the view becomes magical; the Asian side opposite glows in the light of the setting sun, and once the sun is down, the light show really begins. Pull up a chair on the balcony, pour yourself a glass of raki, and enjoy!
Outside the apartment, you'll discover a very laidback, pretty bohemian neighbourhood. There are shops, coffeehouses, a good butchers, great deli, and numerous bars all within a few minutes walk (the Susam bar is our favourite), and the Findikli tram stop is just at the bottom of the steps leading to the waterside. As some other reviewers have noted, these steps do have to be reckoned with (at least on the way back up...) but if you're reasonably fit - or keen to get that way - don't let it put you off; this is a great apartment, well-managed, with helpful staff on hand if needed. Our party of adults and teenagers stayed here for two weeks; it proved a great base for exploring unforgettable Istanbul - no car required - and was always a great place to come back to.
