We have just completed a full month in this amazing apartment and now feel that it is our second home. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else, and we can’t imagine why anybody visiting Barcelona would, either.
The apartment is perfect. We were initially concerned about the location on La Rambla but when we arrived we realized our fears were unfounded. The windows are triple-glazed, which makes them virtually soundproof. The location is ideal in every respect: literally across the street from the most amazing market in all of Barcelona, a half block from a main subway line and within easy walking distance of virtually every major attraction in town. Incredible restaurants and shopping are just around the corner, tucked away in the streets of Old Town. We took the subway to the train station for a couple of day trips out of town.
The apartment itself has been completely renovated and stunningly modern and up-to-date with numerous designer touches. The bathroom is spacious with all new fixtures (plenty of hot water, too.) There is a washer/dryer which is worth its weight in gold (who wants to schlep clothes to a laundromat?) and the kitchen has a dishwasher and full-size refrigerator. We had two televisions: one in the living room and one in the bedroom, and a mini-safe where we left our American currency and passports.
One of our favorite things to do was simply step out onto one of the two balconies and watch the parade of humanity walking down La Rambla. Truly, a people-watching dream!
We can’t say enough about the management. Our apartment was cleaned thoroughly and professionally once a week -- fresh towels and linens, everything scrubbed and polished -- and the day before we left the owners were kind enough to arrange for a taxi to pick us up at 5 o’clock the next morning for an early flight back to the U.S.
