Awesome family vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5
My family stayed here over Christmas with a group of 16 people, ages 1-50. It was a wonderful vacation! The house and grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. The staff takes care of nearly any request, and we felt like we at a much nicer home away from home. We had the Mexican cooks make three dinners for us, and this provided left overs for lunches nearly all week. Their food was delicious! The bedrooms are all well appointed and comfortable. We had a 1-year-old and they provided a diaper pail, a booster seat for the car, a high chair, a pack-n-play crib, baby gates for the stairs, a baby monitor, and even a potty. We really only had to bring diapers! The common rooms comfy and large enough for many of us at once. It was a true family vacation!

Some people in our family stayed close to the villa for sunbathing and swimming in the pools. There is a gorgeous pool with three levels of depth and a nice baby pool in the shade. There were many chaise lounges and an outdoor cabana-type spot for lounging. The covered hammock area was also popular! The teens played volleyball and walked next door to the hotel to go in the lagoon and to the small, sandy beach. Some people also stayed busy with activities. We went on a catamaran trip with Fat Cat - a highlight for sure. The boat ride was fun and the snorkeling and swimming were fantastic. One group went on a Jungle Adventure and had a blast. Everyone swam with dolphins - an expensive but worthwhile experience. Most went on a day trip to Chichen Itza, which was loved by some but not everyone. It's a long drive and at high season, the lines can be long. A smaller group went to Tulum instead and it was well worth it. It's close by and do-able in a morning or half day, depending on your interest level. Doug arranged for his photographer and masseuse to come over. The pictures were some of the best family pictures we've had taken. Charlie put everyone at ease and captured some great pics. Overall, we have nothing negative to say. One piece of advice is to bring all the clothes you will need, especially over the holidays as it was difficult to get laundry done during the holidays. This was a small issue and caused no stress. We ate at several area restaurants, with Latitude 20 being our favorite (though service was sometimes slow). The tacos and margaritas were awesome!

Doug was so easy to work with. Everything was exactly as described and as we expected it! Nothing slipped through the cracks!

Perfect setting for a gathering of friends

  • 5 of 5
In July, I stayed with a group of 13 longtime friends for a collective 40th birthday celebration. Our group could not have had more fun or been more pleased with Villa Brisa Caribe or its amenities.
We all hope to return to Villa Brisa Caribe.

Doug, the owner, was very helpful and answered every question we threw his way. The staff at the house was attentive and friendly. Everything was easy. The whole stay was super-relaxing which is just what we were after.

We bought more groceries than we could possibly have used because Tina the international cook fed us so well at breakfast and dinner and packed up any leftovers (not many!) for lunches. She provided outstanding service and her meals were delicious. We all looked forward to gathering over breakfast and dinner each day. Several days after we returned home we were still talking about huevos rancheros, spanakopita, chicken caccitore, vegetable curry, and other highlights of the menus she prepared.

We hired mariachis to play the rooftop bar on the first evening. We had a photo shoot on the beachfront with a photographer one day. Both the mariachis and the photographer came recommended by the villa's owner and were excellent. More than half the group wanted to schedule massages, so Barbara came to the villa on two different days. She is a wonderful masseuse and her rates are reasonable.

The villa's pool was sparkling and we enjoyed hanging out there and watching the hermit crabs scamper and the iguanas sunbathe. There really is jungle right next door!

We only had 1 problem during our stay and it was very minor - one of the safes in a guest room was not unlocking properly. Staff responded quickly when this was brought to attention.

Puerto Aventuras was small and felt safe, though we hardly left the villa. We discovered in a couple quick excursions to Latitude 20 the best pina coladas and frozen mango drinks we've had. We sampled their food a bit and found everything we tried absolutely fresh and prepared healthy. Vegetable quesadillas were outstanding and pizza very flavorful. Their salsas were fabulous too.

The website and photos accurately advertise Villa Brisa Caribe (unfortunately for us, because we have to compete with everyone for dates of our next booking!) I would say all was as expected, but all the details experienced in person truly exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful villa!
