Big Bear Cabin at Bear Den has lots of room with roughly 1,350 square feet, two bedrooms (both have queen beds), two bathrooms, loft (queen sleeper sofa), large front porch with Hot Springs hot tub overlooking short and long range mountain views. Big Bear Cabin has a cozy stacked stone gas log fireplace with 150 year old reclaimed wood mantel, antler chandelier over the log dining room table, convenient location, abundant amenities, and more! Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 324.8 in Spruce Pine, NC.

Nestled in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest, Big Bear Cabin is located within 5 minutes of the Orchard at Altapass, 10 minutes of the area's best gem mining, 10 minutes of the beautiful Linville Falls / Linville Gorge / Linville Caverns, and 20 minutes of Grandfather Mountain.

There is a lake with sandy beach area for swimming, fishing (no North Carolina fishing license needed), paddle-boating (for rent), and canoeing (for rent). Bear Den has miles of hiking trails, a waterfall, two fun playgrounds for the little ones, basketball court, horse-shoes, volleyball and badminton, shuffleboard, ping-pong, arcade, and recreation hall which hosts entertainment seasonally. There is also a trading post which carries basic groceries, ice, drinks, firewood, souvenirs, information on local things to do, etc.

THIS IS A COMMENT A VISITOR RECENTLY LEFT IN THE GUEST BOOK IN OUR CABIN. April sure didn't come in like a lamb! It was 32-36 degrees, snow flurries, wind, and even some sleet! Beautiful place! It's quiet and beautiful! My husband is still looking for some deer! We had a raccoon come by and sniff at the side door(I think it's even too cold for wildlife). Be sure to go to Gem Mountain, USA Rafting (Nolichucky River), and Plumtree for zip lining - great guides in all areas. Famous Louise's has great home cooking - so does the Mountain View Restaurant. The cabin had really everything we needed. The hot tub is the BOMB! The people at the welcome center are very friendly. Definitely go on a hike! It was great to stay in our PJs for a whole day and play games. The weather was rainy one day, making it more cozy. We saw a deer right outside the cabin! Enjoyed it to the fullest!
