Big Bear Cabin at Bear Den has lots of room with roughly 1,350 square feet, two bedrooms (both have queen beds), two bathrooms, loft (queen sleeper sofa), large front porch with Hot Springs hot tub overlooking short and long range mountain views. Big Bear Cabin has a cozy stacked stone gas log fireplace with 150 year old reclaimed wood mantel, antler chandelier over the log dining room table, convenient location, abundant amenities, and more! Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 324.8 in Spruce Pine, NC.

Nestled in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest, Big Bear Cabin is located within 5 minutes of the Orchard at Altapass, 10 minutes of the area's best gem mining, 10 minutes of the beautiful Linville Falls / Linville Gorge / Linville Caverns, and 20 minutes of Grandfather Mountain.

Sorry, no pets or smoking are allowed in Big Bear Cabin.

Bear Den Community: Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bear Den is an incredibly fun community with a vast number of amenities to enjoy during your stay at Big Bear Cabin. Bear Den consists of over 400 sparsely developed acres and is located inside Pisgah National Forest. There is a lake with sandy beach area for swimming, fishing (no North Carolina fishing license needed), paddle-boating (for rent), and canoeing (for rent). Bear Den has miles of hiking trails, a waterfall, two fun playgrounds for the little ones, basketball court, horse-shoes, volleyball and badminton, shuffleboard, ping-pong, arcade, and recreation hall which hosts entertainment seasonally. There is also a trading post which carries basic groceries, ice, drinks, firewood, souvenirs, information on local things to do, etc.

With two teen-aged boys, we don't get to enjoy much family time these days. We had a blast playing games and had lots of laughs. "Can we go back to North Carolina and the hot tub?" It was easy to convince us, so here we are again - and we love the cabin just as much as last year! She and her 4-year old cousin danced in the road and waved to their respective parents as they watched via the web cam; great fun. And, oh the hot tub... It was occupied almost every moment we were here that it wasn't raining. Such a lovely area and wonderful cabin! The Elliots, Elgin, TX

THIS IS A COMMENT A VISITOR RECENTLY LEFT IN THE GUEST BOOK IN OUR CABIN. This is our 3rd visit to Bear Den, first time in this cabin. We are both teachers and I am also an artist. What an awesome escape. This is by far one of the best places to stay. A time for reading, making art, playing cards, and just being plain lazy which never seems to happen for us. We live in the woods at home so we love the solitude, wildlife, and inner peace you can only experience when surrounded by nature. Already planning our next trip! THIS IS A COMMENT A VISITOR RECENTLY LEFT IN THE GUEST BOOK IN OUR CABIN. We had an amazing time. The cabin was everything they said it was and more. Beautiful scenery, great weather, seclusion, who could ask for more. We used the hot tub every night after long days of sightseeing and gem hunting (go to Gem Mountain!). We will definitely be back in the future, maybe in the winter next time so we can cuddle up in front of the fireplace more. What a blast. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
