Big Bear Cabin at Bear Den has lots of room with roughly 1,350 square feet, two bedrooms (both have queen beds), two bathrooms, loft (queen sleeper sofa), large front porch with Hot Springs hot tub overlooking short and long range mountain views. Big Bear Cabin has a cozy stacked stone gas log fireplace with 150 year old reclaimed wood mantel, antler chandelier over the log dining room table, convenient location, abundant amenities, and more! Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 324.8 in Spruce Pine, NC.

Nestled in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest, Big Bear Cabin is located within 5 minutes of the Orchard at Altapass, 10 minutes of the area's best gem mining, 10 minutes of the beautiful Linville Falls / Linville Gorge / Linville Caverns, and 20 minutes of Grandfather Mountain.

Sorry, no pets or smoking are allowed in Big Bear Cabin.

Bear Den Community: Big Bear Cabin is located in the Bear Den community directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Bear Den is an incredibly fun community with a vast number of amenities to enjoy during your stay at Big Bear Cabin. Bear Den consists of over 400 sparsely developed acres and is located inside Pisgah National Forest. There is a lake with sandy beach area for swimming, fishing (no North Carolina fishing license needed), paddle-boating (for rent), and canoeing (for rent). Bear Den has miles of hiking trails, a waterfall, two fun playgrounds for the little ones, basketball court, horse-shoes, volleyball and badminton, shuffleboard, ping-pong, arcade, and recreation hall which hosts entertainment seasonally. There is also a trading post which carries basic groceries, ice, drinks, firewood, souvenirs, information on local things to do, etc.

We have been here one and a half weeks and we've done gem mining, zip lining, and eating LOTS! Hot tub is really cool and I love the decorations here!! Hope we can come back soon. Feels great to be away from the heat of eastern NC for a few days and enjoy incredible vistas. We saw a bear on the parkway and a doe and fawn just down the road. So there we were sitting in another cabin (without air conditioning because you just don't need it in these parts) sweating, crabby, and with all five fans we bought from Wal-Mart on us "vacationing". When I got my kids up from their naps I had to put them in clean clothes because I could wring sweat out of the others. I said to myself, self, we've got to find something better because there is rustic and then there is RUSTIC! So, we called and found that Big Bear Cabin was available for the rest of our stay. I even called back a second time to confirm that Big Bear Cabin was air conditioned and the sweet ladies response was, Honey, you will not be disappointed. We were packed in 45 minutes. Well, Honey, she was right. The cabin is beautiful and like what a cabin in the mountains should be. From the bottom of our hearts... Thank you for sharing this amazing place. We will be back soon! THIS IS A COMMENT A VISITOR RECENTLY LEFT IN THE GUEST BOOK IN OUR CABIN. We had a great time at the cabin. We were able to have our son and his family with us. The hot tub was a big hit, but the whitewater rafting topped it all. It is so peaceful and serene here. You are able to sit on the porch and center yourself. We are a non hiking family, but Tuesday most of the afternoon was spent in the woods. Great memories, but the Bear Den waterfall may not be worth the climb. Hate to leave but hopeful to return.
