Photos and Description of the Jordaan vacation apartment rental
Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

" Our apartment is situated in a house on the Prinsengracht, one of the most beautiful and lively canals in the city centre. Dated 1730 and fully renovated, it stands in the residential and smart shopping area called Jordaan. Jordaan is the most popular and historic part of town with small cafes, bars, restaurants, boutiques, and on Saturdays and Mondays organic and antique markets. The house has a spectacular view of the Nordenkerk (North church) and of many boat houses. Sunsets are breathtaking. Within walking distance of Central train station (10min), Anne Frank’s House (1 min), Damsquare (8 min), shopping streets (9 straatjes, Haarlemer street, Kalver street )(5-10 min) and museums (Rijks museum, Vangogh museum, Hermitage ) (20-30 min). A minibus serves the canals every 15 min and stops at request. To really see Amsterdam one needs to do a canal tour. We have our own small boats so we can arrange private boat trips - also in the evenings when most bridges and private and public houses are illuminated – or picnics on the Amsterdam canals. One can rent bicycles everywhere. Public transportation is close and car traffic is almost nonexistent. Amsterdam is a very quiet city compared to other major ones. "

About The Owner

We are a couple loves traveling and always trying to rent an apartments during our trips just to feel as we are living in that country. First thing we do is trying to find a local markets ,do shopping and cooking at our new home.So when we have the second apartment in the same building we decided to give this opportunity to our guests in the best part of Amsterdam. So our guests are being also our neighbors. It became a hobby for us while I am working as a dentist and my husband works as an engineer.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2011
Why The Owner chose Jordaan

We live also in the same building so we decided that 2 apartment is to much for us and began to rent it to our guests since 2010

What makes this apartment unique

This is the most popular area called Jordaan with many small cafes and restaurants.During the day it is always alive with street musicians, boats or somedays with local markets .At nights it is so peaceful and safe and you hardly hear trafic although the apartment is located centrum centrum. It is 2 minutes walking distance to Anna frank's house and 20 minutes to the museums. There are many uniek shops around and 2 parks .Train station is 10 minutes walking distance. So you dont need any public transport. The view from the apartment is delightful with boat houses and the view of Norden church. All the day you can watch passing of boats on the prinsencanal. My favourite ritual is going to saturday market just across the house to buy weekly fresh flowers and fish to cook for weekend. We are sure you will also enjoy beeing here as we are enjoying since 12 years.

Thanks for your generous hospitality. You made us feel very welcome. The apartment was in such a great location and we so much preferred it to staying in a hotel - such a relaxing spacious space. Thank you!

Amsterdam is a wonderful city to explore on foot and you want to be sure to select a rental that is:

- Walkable from the train station
- Walkable to the museum district
- Away from all the rowdy late night partiers but close enough to walk there yourself
- Amidst a wide selection of restaurants, coffee shops and shopping areas

This flat has all of the above and loads of charm to boot! It is a very very nice place and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Great kitchen, great bathroom, just wonderful view out the windows to the trees and canal below.

Owners are off the chart friendly and helpful.

Wonderful pied a terre in the heart of the Jordaan

My husband and I spent a delightful week in Amsterdam this summer, and our stay was greatly enhanced by our having rented this lovely apartment directly on the Prinsengracht canal. Our hosts, Cido and Rob, were extremely friendly and helpful. On our first night there they took us on a wonderful boat tour of Amsterdam on their private boat. Cido ensured that we found the best coffee, shopping and local haunts throughout our stay. Her apartment is light-filled and charming as well as being fully equipped with everything you need, from kitchen wares to dvds. The bedroom and bath are spacious and comfortable, and the location is ideal. Directly across from the North Church, you have easy access to the best restaurants, markets, boutiques, cafes, artists' studios, all without being in the much busier and more touristy areas where you will hear more English than Dutch being spoken.
If you want to feel like a true Amsterdam local while being close to everything in the heart of the city, stay at this wonderful apartment!

Incredible stay

We stayed in this lovely flat at the end of August and it was heaven. The flat was well appointed, perfectly clean, pretty and a wonderful base for our 11 day stay. Our kind and friendly host Cido gave us a warm welcome and made us feel right at home. There were many thoughtful touches, beautiful fresh flowers and a really nice bottle of white in the fridge. We loved the location of the flat, it is centrally located on one of the most picturesque canal streets, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an excellent market which popped up out of nowhere our first morning there, in the little square right across the canal! The produce we purchased there was delicious.

Cido and Rob have a boat and we booked a Canal ride with them on the Saturday when the weather was fine. They were really great guides. It was a fun day and really added to the special nature of our stay.

Even though we encountered some pretty inclement weather during our time in Amsterdam, the flat was so comfortable, we enjoyed staying in, reading and relaxing.

The saddest part of our stay here was having to leave. Thanks Cido and Rob for making our trip to Amsterdam such a memorable part of our European adventure! T & P

What a wonderful, contemporary apartment in the perfect location! Just a 10 minute walk from the train station to the apartment, a four minute walk to Anne Frank House and a 20 minute walk to Van Gogh Museum. (Purchase Van Gogh tickets online, skip the long ticket queue). The Prinsingracht Canal is one of the most stately in Amsterdam; in the nicest, quietest neighborhood -- the Jordaan. Some apartments we reviewed said they were in a central location, but were actually further out in the canal rings. This location is prime. Our family enjoyed watching the canal boats cruise by from the apartment window. We appreciated the apartment amenities, cleanliness, provisions (spices/olive oil/butter, shampoo etc.), even a bottle of wine upon check-in and fresh flowers! Cido and Rob made this lovely, historical city, even more special with their warmth and hospitality. Thank you for making our family’s trip to Amsterdam magical!

The only drawback was the 48 stairs (yes I counted) But, WOW what a view. The apartment was, I think, the cleanest, most comfortable place on our month stay in Europe. We stayed one week there.
At the end of the block is the night time party place, not kids, grown ups ! It was truley an experience to remember. Thank you Cido and Rob.

Excellent venue - truly felt at home the moment we walked in... We were there for Queens Day weekend and we didnt even have to step out any further to enjoy the festivities... Cido and Rob are great hosts and we met their friends too over BBQ...

The steps can be bothersome for someone.. (3 flights up) but cant believe what views you have and feel like a true experience of how the locals live...

Cido was very helpful with tips for sightseeing, eating, etc... do ask her for recommendations for anything - she and Rob are very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods... the 2 bars on either end of the street are great hang out places and we were truly smitten by Albert Heijn (local grocery store) and the cheese and bakery store next to it...

Kudos to them for keeping the place feeling like home... its been over 24 hours and I really miss that place... one of the best vacations ever...

New Friends in Amsterdam

Cido and Rob could not have been nicer or more accommodating hosts...our 3rd floor walk-up had a wonderful view of the canal and weekly specialty markets across the way. Beautiful tulips, must have been 2 dozen, awaited our arrival...a nice touch. The living/ dining "great-room" was comfortable and spacious...with homey touches like a cozy throw and plenty of pillows in addition to the very nice sofa and chairs. The sleeping room is at the back of the apartment, nice and quiet, and plenty of storage space. There is a beautifully appointed bath, complete with his-n-hers sinks! (The water was always hot and plenty of pressure too!) The kitchen afforded us the opportunity to cook and was generously supplied with pretty much everything one might need for most meal preparation, cookware and tool wise. From our European travel experience, we can say it has biggest refrig/freezer we've ever seen in such a rental! They even included ice cube trays, which are hard to find in Europe!
Cido and Rob were very gracious and thoughtful, providing lots of insights to where to shop in the local weekly markets and "regular" grocers. They offered ideas on dining and sight seeing. We were treated like family, even though we had just met. Due to our terribly early arrival, they even allowed us to "crash" in the unit at 7:30 AM, even though our time would not official begin until 3 PM...what a blessing that they were able to do this for us...
For the location and space, I am hesitant to say that it is probably undervalued...that is to say, a steal for the price. So, if we're not able to rent this again because it has become so popular, I'll be sad indeed, but not surprised!
This is a wonderful location and a terrific apartment. It is one that will allow the traveler a true local's living experience. Take this unit, if you can get it. You will not regret your choice... Enjoy it!

A gem in Amsterdam

This is a beautifully appointed apartment. The photos actually understate the unit's appearance and quality. It is in an ideal location (note to Americans: the best apple pie in Amsterdam is right across the canal at Winkel). It is close to shops and restaurants, and the neighborhood is lovely. The owners are lovely, too-- many personal touches including a bottle of wine upon arrival and a tulip delivery on day two of our stay. The bedroom is rather light-filled. It didn't bother me in the least-- my husband used his eyeshades. For those sleeping on the sleeper sofa (which is quite comfortable), that room faces the canal, so expect normal Amsterdam city noise. Not as loud as Paris or NYC by any means, but earplugs helped the light sleeper in our party. We have already recommended this flat to others. We are also plotting a return. We tagged Amsterdam onto a trip that primarily featured Paris. As it turns out, we were more taken with Amsterdam than the city of lights. This apartment no doubt played into this equation.
