I had the good fortune to come across the Owl's Nest listing while looking for possible rentals for February vacation for snowmobiling. We've rented in Pittsburg many times in the past, but never from an individual home owner.
I contacted the owner, Ken, and found him to be very personable and helpful. My husband and I discussed it, and decided to rent for the entire month of February; not just our usual 10 day stay. It seemed to be perfect for us, our family and friends - so we booked it sight unseen.
We went up for a short stay over New Year's Eve (3 nights), and found out we made the right choice! The cabin is beautiful, inside and out. The log structure is amazing, and it's decorated attractively, and with all the amenities we could ask for. Everything is new. In addition to a great kitchen and great appliances - with lots of room for preparation - Ken even provides a few extras we haven't come across in the past; a dishwasher, blender and crock-pot. The latter is a snowmobiler's necessity. There's nothing like having dinner ready after a long, tiring day on the trails.
Since there's sleeping for at least 8 and 2 bathrooms, there's more than enough room to accommodate our entire party.
The garage is another huge asset. We can ride right in after the day, without the hassle of trailering our sleds. There's also a large basement to store all our gear, which alllows us more room for moving about. There's even a washer and dryer.
The cabin is located with direct trail access, but still extremely private. It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and back to nature, with total piece and quiet.
In addition to all of the above, the owners, Ken and Pam, have been a pleasure to deal with. Ken is always accessible, and any questions or concerns we've had have been addressed immediately. We can't wait for February - and expect to stay at the Owl's Nest for many years to come!
