Fantastic House and Incredible View

My sister and I and our 2 families (6 total) stayed at the Shipping Lanes House for 3 nights towards the end of June, 2010. We had a wonderful time. The view out over the water from the decks, spa and inside the house is incredible. We saw ships of all descriptions and Orcas and 2 bald eagles, and also were visited by deer on the back lawn on 2 of the mornings. The house was immaculate and well stocked with everything to make it home, including books, CDs, DVDs and (my favorite) bath robes. Also the kitchen was equipped with a large selection of herbs and spices and pots and pans needed to cook just about anything (including a bunt cake!). We enjoyed the hot tub, cooking on the grill, playing ping pong, air hokey and foosball in the game room, and just hanging out on the deck and enjoying the view. We visited the small local grocery/general store for icecream (they also have deli sandwiches and other goodies), spent pleasant hours looking for shells and “sea glass” on the nearby Point-No-Point Lighthouse beach and explored the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo (about a 35 minute drive away). It’s only about a 15 minute drive from the Kingston ferry dock to the house and you can get provisioned in Kingston. Also, there’s a large Albertson’s grocery store on the NE corner of the intersection of Hwy 104 and Hansville Road NE (on the way to the house). The house is an excellent value and Patti even had homemade cookies waiting for us on our arrival! We will definitely stay at the Shipping Lanes House again and hope to get back there soon.
