Relax and Enjoy

My family recently spent two wonderful weeks at The Shipping Lanes House. We were impressed from the moment we entered the driveway...it met all our expectations and then some. Patti and Ed have furnished everything imaginable including games for the kids, a fabulous hot tub overlooking the Sound, and even a great karaoke machine. We found a tasty treat in the kitchen and felt as though we were truly at home. What more can one ask for a relaxing vacation!

We visited as much of our surroundings as we could squeeze in: taking the ferry from Bainbridge Island to Seattle; having great food and shopping in Paulsbo; the kids enjoyed the skatepark in Kingston; and we drove out to the Olympic National Park a couple of times. So much to see. We all want to come back one day.

Our party of six (including two girls) had a wonderful 3 nights at the shipping lanes house. Ed and Patti have thought of everything to make a house welcoming and beautiful. A truly tranquil and lovely getaway. My expectations were surpassed. We had a blast playing air hockey, ping pong, foosball, etc. We saw a family of deer walk through the backyard. The hot tub was wonderful. The kitchen was well equipped for making a great meal. We wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Fantastic House and Incredible View

My sister and I and our 2 families (6 total) stayed at the Shipping Lanes House for 3 nights towards the end of June, 2010. We had a wonderful time. The view out over the water from the decks, spa and inside the house is incredible. We saw ships of all descriptions and Orcas and 2 bald eagles, and also were visited by deer on the back lawn on 2 of the mornings. The house was immaculate and well stocked with everything to make it home, including books, CDs, DVDs and (my favorite) bath robes. Also the kitchen was equipped with a large selection of herbs and spices and pots and pans needed to cook just about anything (including a bunt cake!). We enjoyed the hot tub, cooking on the grill, playing ping pong, air hokey and foosball in the game room, and just hanging out on the deck and enjoying the view. We visited the small local grocery/general store for icecream (they also have deli sandwiches and other goodies), spent pleasant hours looking for shells and “sea glass” on the nearby Point-No-Point Lighthouse beach and explored the charming Scandinavian town of Poulsbo (about a 35 minute drive away). It’s only about a 15 minute drive from the Kingston ferry dock to the house and you can get provisioned in Kingston. Also, there’s a large Albertson’s grocery store on the NE corner of the intersection of Hwy 104 and Hansville Road NE (on the way to the house). The house is an excellent value and Patti even had homemade cookies waiting for us on our arrival! We will definitely stay at the Shipping Lanes House again and hope to get back there soon.

Paradise found!

What a blessing my stay has been! This truly became my 'home' for our month-long visit and now I'm reluctant to leave. The meditations on sea and sky, fish and fowl (birds) create a peace within. Last night we took a short dusk visit to Foulweather Bluff Conservancy and two eagles joined us, perching atop the tree beside where we stood, and when we left a wise old owl waved goodbye from the road. And so I bid farewell to a beautiful home (the best equipped ever) and our kindest and most fun of hosts, Ed and Patty - you guys are gems! We look forward to our next adventure here in N. Kitsap/Hansville, inspired by our visit.

What a Dream Home Away from Home

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful nights in this beautiful house. We felt very "at home" here. The owner was so thoughtful and even left us a nice pie in the refrigerator. We loved it here, the views were fantastic, the area was beautiful, and it was very quiet and peaceful. This was for my huband's birthday and we even found a Happy Birthday sign hanging in the window when we arrived. The photos did not do justice to the beautiful home. The only thing I can say was that it was absolutely perfect. We WILL be back.

We just returned yesterday from our long weekend at this lovely property. All 3 couples agree that the Shipping Lanes House went way beyond our expectations. Walking into the home we were pleasantly surprised to find the warm and welcoming atmosphere, from the plate of brownies left out for us, to the gorgeous tulips placed through out the house. We enjoyed coming back from our outings each day, to such a cozy home. Beautiful views of the Sound. We especially loved sitting in the hot tub in the evening looking out on the water under the moonlit sky. Beautifully landscaped yard. We also had so much fun with the karaoke machine you left for us, not sure if the guys appreciated our singing as much as we did. Thank you Patti and Ed for making our stay one we are already planning on repeating next year, for a week next time.

Patti and Ed,
My stay in your lovely home was wonderful. Your house is very well equipped, comfortable & cozy. It provided plenty of activities for my family yet was also a relaxing retreat for just myself.
You have quite the gift of hopitality and it shows in the thoughtful touches that went above & beyond such as the fresh flowers, delicious goodies and the vast assortment of books, movies and games.
It was a pleasure meeting you both. Thank you for providing the perfect getaway experience here in Hansville.

We stayed here recently for my sister's wedding in Poulsbo (she lives in Hansville) and we couldn't have been happier! Ed and Patty are very friendly and excellent at communicating. Ed helped us solve a small crisis when our daughter stepped on her glasses an hour before the wedding - he rounded up all the tools he could find and delivered them to the house, and I was able to make repairs in time.

The house is beautifully decorated, very clean, the living room and kitchen space is open and with great views across the water. The yard and surroundings are beautiful and nicely kept up. The kitchen really is stocked with everything one would want. The garage has all sorts of fun games in it (air hockey, ping pong, and so on).

We enjoyed the baked treats and the candy left out for us. The beds were very comfortable, and we found a twin air mattress which let our daughters sleep without disturbing each other.

The wood (pellet) stove in the living room was very efficient at warming up that space, as were the heaters in each room.

As my wife gave me the thumbs up after walking in, she told me this was the best place I'd found yet. And she was right.

If you ever need a place to stay near Hansville, make this your top choice.

I stayed at this house with a group of people and there was plenty of room to hang out and have fun. The kitchen is open and easy to cook at in a group. The views are beautiful and watching the ships go in and out of the shipping lanes, very relaxing. It was nice to take in everything while sitting in one of the chairs on the deck or in the hot tub. I also really enjoyed the game room's ping pong table and playing against several other people in our group.
