Not for us!
We didn't arrive till 7:00 pm. The nice lady who cleans the house was still there. We have rental properties of our own, so we know that sometimes things happen. Evidently, the people before us were late leaving. In there rush to leave they left a head of black hair in the tub, yuck! The place was filthy. We had to move a sofa downstairs to retrieve a small toy-big mistake. I thought I read that the kitchen was fully stocked. It may sleep 10,but there are only 5 forks. I don't think they allow pets but the place stunk like 3 or 4 wet ones. Thank goodness for all the air freshners. We enjoy reading and playing games but the lighting prevented us from doing so at night. We have a 2 year old and we held our breath every time she was near the stairs because they have a wierd tilt to them that was tricky for everyone. Also, the decks were narrow and easy for a small child to fall through. The incline is very steep. Not great for small kids but provided an excellent view.Top of the world(the swimming and recreation area) was fun. Kiddos love to swim no matter how cold the water. Food there not great but nice to grab a quick bite after the swim. If you like T.V.and plan on eating out alot this could be your place. Bring you own blankets, silverware, and lysol wipes. This would be a great house for a guys weekend.
Owner's Response: Dear unsatisfied renters, I must apologize. As Property Owners, you know how difficult it is to find good renters, and normally I am lucky enough to have good renters. However, once in a blue moon, I do get some renters who treat my home as if it were a dirty motel and check out well after the agreed time. Unfortunately, you vacationed immediately after them. Since you arrived so shortly after the bad renters departed, the cleaning lady did not have sufficient time to do a quality inspection and cleaning. After you departed I personally inspected the property and discovered that we were, in fact, missing several kitchen utensils, glasses and plates; items that were definitely in my home two weeks ago. They have all been replaced and my kitchen is fully stocked again. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I would also like to address the rest of your complaints: the bad odor was from the previous renters; the whole house has been disinfected. The lights- in every room they are adjustable; you can change the direction and how dim/ bright they get. As for the stairs-in my strong opinion, there is nothing wrong with the stairs in my home. There are two sets, with six stairs apiece. They are all level, 7 inch rise by 12 inch run which equals a 34 degree angle and they are not steep at all. Also, there are proper handrails and railing in place that are up to code. No other renters, seniors included, have ever had an issue with them, nor do believe there is a “weird tilt” to them. The decks-are only narrow around the walk ways. They have been inspected and can safely and comfortably accommodate 10 adults. I do, however agree that the rails were not designed with safety in mind. I have already contacted a contractor about upgrading to a safer design. In closing, I would like to apologize again for the condition in which you found my home. As rental property owners, I hope you never experience the embarrassment that I have in regards to this situation. Take care. Dear prospective renters, I can assure you that this was an isolated incident. Out of over 100 renters, this is the first major complaint that I have ever had. Under normal circumstances, my house is spotless, odorless and fully stocked with every item that is advertised on this site. If you are seriously interested in renting my home for your vacation, please do let this one incident deter you. Thank you.
