Exquisite experience in Wailea
To orient yourself, the location is right next door to the Grand Wailea. It shares an incredbile beach (Wailea Beach) with that hotel and the Four Seasons. It is within a few hundred feet of the Shops at Wailea.
The complex is one of condominiums. This unit has three beds and three baths, with the master (and the living room) overlooking the ocean. The views have got to be some of the best on the entire island, and are expansive, overlooking the ocean.
The unit itself is very high end. The owners obviously use it as their second home, and it is adorned and equipped that way. Flat screen TVs in every bedroom. Nice furniture. Spices already present. All the little things taken care of. (When we defrosted a pizza, we looked for -- and easily found -- a pizza cutter.) The unit is large and comfortable. There is a nice sized balcony.
There are two pools, a kids pool and an adult infinity pool. Neither was crowded. Each had more than ample lounge chairs and umbrellas.
The beach is a short (5-7 minute) walk from the unit. Althogh the condominium complex as a whole is on the ocean, the condos are built from the ocean up the hill. This unit -- considered a penthouse -- is up the hill a little bit (hence the views). However, this is not at all problematic, since the only thing you need to carry to the beach is a good book. There are permanent attendants for the complex at the beach who set up lounge chairs and umbrellas for you there (and they give you towels). The beach is very nice -- wide, sandy, etc. (Our guide book said it is sometimes rated the best beach in the entire U.S.) On the weekend the beach was crowded.
The complex itself has a nice, relaxed feel. Very different than that of the Grand Wailea next door.
The owners are incredible. They were easy to communicate with and very accommodating. You could tell they wanted us to enjoy our stay (and boy, did we!).
The ultimate test? My wife and I easily agreed we would come back again. In fact, the problem is that you might get spoiled and decide you can't stay anywhere else.
