Unsafe, in disrepair, NOT luxury accommodations, overpriced, false advertising

This property is run by a management company, not the owners. So, any complaints or problems we had fell on the deaf ears of a company only wanting to take our money. Here are excerpts from our letter to the owner:
"Upon arriving at Casa Tranquilo, we were all apauled at the condition of the place. I was put off by the threat of crime, the disrepair, the misrepresentation of the furnishings and the uncleanliness of the property."
"The managers told us to lock up all valuables in the safe whenever going out, lock all doors and leave the tv on. There was broken glass from a previous break-in in my 15-year old daughter's bedroom and no curtains for privacy on any windows anywhere including the patio doors where anyone could come and look in..."
"The whole place seemed to be in disrepair. There were numerous holes in the walls, pictures missing off walls, the whole front terrace roof was rusted to the point of collapsing... The place is in need of a repaint, all the patio lights are severely rusted and broken (3 out of 4 were even functional), and many of the interior lights do not work at all.
The VRBO description includes "luxury furnishings". What we found were nice, comfortable beds. We also were disappointed to find a... TV literally glued to an old rusty table in the living room (another testament to the safety of the place). The couch cushions in the living room were filthy. The patio furniture was new and nice but the cushions were also filthy. The grounds of the property looked like an abandoned lot - unkempt, with maintenance supplies and materials strewn about the area in piles. The VRBO photos also show the palapa (on the side of the house) with furniture. As it turns out, the only outdoor furniture is on the terrace and has to be moved to either one or the other, while nothing mentions this fact in the description. This means that there is actually half the amount of outdoor living space than is shown on the profile.
While the managers insist the place had been cleaned, the floor felt like it hadn't been mopped, there was toothpaste stuck to walls and the floor in the ensuite bathroom, and in the other bathroom someone left their shampoo and soap (with hairs) in the shower."
The property is also a good 20 minute walk to the Plaza, FYI.

Owner's Response: I cant begin to respond to this. Our staff takes great pride in the house and it is our responsibility to ensure it looks and is as promised.
We will rely on our clients to discern between our past reviews and these unwarranted, overblown false statements. We felt they were unhappy people from the minute they arrived. I am sorry for them.

Quiet time

Had a blast hanging out on the terrace, watching the horses and the joggers go by once in a while...the sunsets were terrific i miss it already. its a good size house for 6 people but no more than that i think. There was enough space for 3 couples and the house was nice and clean.

We liked the fact that this home is a few hundred yards from the downtown and was great for hanging out. There were 3 couples and we loved the beach in front ...way better than the crowded main beach...

BEST SPOT IN TOWN

This house is for sure in the best spot in town...we were so happy after we moved from a place downtown that was a bit to noisy for us...It was very cool, the people were nice and they also did a nice dinner for our family (it was extra)

Beach paradise

The house is not visible from the street and once we drove to the bottom of the driveway we were so happy that this beach cottage plopped at the edge of the bluff was there waiting for us. Could not ask for more privacy, as its a huge property and the house is situated at the front of it over the top of the beach break...all you can hear at night is the waves and it put me to sleep like nothing else...
Our kids loved it because they were able to play at the beach directly in front of the house and i was happy because we could watch them from the terrace at the house...made me feel more at ease that i could keep an eye on them.
The manager of the house is great and he doubles as a bartender at one of the local restaurants. We went there and it was excellent as well...
All in all, great time, great house and we will definitely be back...thanks again eric!

We are a family of 5 and had a great time hanging out at the house...Its a nice walk to town and the ocean was right out the sliding door from the bedroom. Most of the time we spent at the beach or in town but the best thing was how quiet it was at night. Id come back for sure

False advertising

The listing and descriptions of this house are inaccurate. First, this house is NOT BRAND NEW. On the contrary, this older rustic cabin, is not luxurious, inside and out. The furnishings are sparse and the outdoor furniture is soiled and mildewed. The kitchen is small and furnished with odds and ends found at a yard sale. The windows and screens are broken and there are no window coverings for security. The grounds resemble a vacant lot with broken fencing, weeds, mounds of dirt and rocks, and the driveway is torn up and impassable. This house is totally misrepresented. The ONLY accurate feature is the roaring ocean front location, if you can sleep through the roar since the house has no insulation or soundproofing. The house is very damp, and the owner does not permit you to use the AC. The owner was unreceptive to our complaints.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately this woman had an agenda. Call the place trashy and look for a discount. Im sorry that people are like this, but it happens. The home looks and is, exactly like what we say it is, and looks exactly like the pictures. We have nothing but good responses from our guests.

Beach week in Sayulita

I walked into the house and could tell how nice my vacation was going to be right away. The attention to detail was a very welcome treat. Linens were nice quality and thread count, flowers and even decorative soaps in the bathrooms...the terrace facing the ocean is where i spent most of my days and of course watching the gorgeous sunsets....
The house looks exactly like the photos and the property manager is very helpful and nice.
The best part is that its in the north end of town, queit and tranquil at night when i am in a relaxing mood, i love this place and will be coming back as soon as time permits....
