Truckee has 2 regions. One has the original historic, rustic look with the wooden plank walkways and charming shops etc. from the days of the old west gone by, while the other end of town is contemporary. Both have shops, restaurants, taverns galore. This town has become the #1 hotspot of Tahoe and Tahoe Donner Resort is now famous, google it.

I try hard to give you the absolute best rates. Please do not compare mine to another smaller house or a condo located in a less desirable area like South Shore or Kings Beach or on some busy street like Northwoods in Tahoe Donner. There is no comparison, it would not be comparing apples to apples.

House, Kitchen, Deck & Great Room : LAYOUT OF THE HOUSE

This house is 3 stories. The 2nd story, main floor, has the main family room, kitchen, laundry room and 1 master bathroom. The 3rd story has the 2nd master bedroom & bath, 2 additional bunk rooms and a full bathroom. The first floor has the optional extra 2 bdrms & 1 bath with a 2nd family room (making it 6 bdrms & 4 ba + a 2nd family room) it is your choice, 4 or 6 bdrms.

THE KITCHEN

Beautiful oak 'mission' style cabinets, and brand new granite counters. Big and open with lots of counter space and brand new stainless appliances. It has everything for all your kitchen needs, including pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, microwave, etc..

THE DECK

Huge deck with built in benches that runs the entire length of the back of the house, seats about 30. Great for summer BBQs. Gas BBQ for your use.

Large light and bright, with huge pine trees and aspen views from every window. You will feel the incredableness of being in the Tahoe National Forest.

Bedrooms, Pets, Linens: THE BEDROOMS

There are 2 master suites with Queen sized beds (one of those master bedrooms has a 'sleep number' mattress so you can adjust the firmness to suit you). The other master on the 3rd floor, has a balcony off it. The other 2 bedrooms have queen over queen custom bunkbeds to accomodate up to 4 adults per room. There is also the loft area which has a comfortable 'full size' futon that can accomodate 2 more adults. (the optional 2 bdrm & 1 ba & 2nd family room, have 3 more queens, ie can sleep 20 in beds with 2 to a bed)

LINENS

Are available for a fee or save $ & bring your own towels and queen sized sheets (or king size will work as well ) and standard pillowcases per each bed you will use. Futon is a 'full size'. Sleeping bags are fine as well, especially for kids. 2 blankets and 2 pillows/bed, bath mats & dish towels are provided.

LAUNDRY - full sized washer and dryer.

PETS - allowed but NOT on any furniture. If unacceptable to you, please rent another house.

I have owned and operated a 3 bedroom/2 bath house for the past 8 years. It too is located in Tahoe Donner VRBO#25245. We aquired this larger 6 bdrm house in the fall of 2009.

I try very hard to give my quests the best value for their buck. I think it must be working because I am very booked.

We enjoy the Northshore beauty and excellent skiing and Donner Lake among all the other activities available in the surrounding area. It is a wonderful place to bring family & friends. We often have large groups for family reunions too.

The amount of ammenities is huge and you must check them out on the web. TahoeDonner. The location is so close to so many activities in and around the North Tahoe Nat'l Forest region. A short 2 - 3 hour drive from most of the SF Bay Area makes it quick and easy vacation.

I really enjoyed renting your place in Truckee with my girl friends. Your place has lots of warmth and felt very large and comfortable. I would recommend your place. The cabin is very well equipped and the beds are comfy. Once a year we go some place different with another couple and will suggest to my friends.

This is truly the best bang for the buck. We enjoyed out time during the Big Storm of 2010 in January and went skiing every day. We loved coming back to the house and lighting a fire to warm up and enjoy the spacious and well appointed home. The owner was extremely responsive and easy to deal with. We have already booked another Winter getaway and can't wait to go back. Thanks again!

Great cabin

This very spacious cabin surpassed our expectations, especially for it's price. The main living area is very open with huge windows looking out on the beautiful forest. The large kitchen and dining area were perfect for our group of 11 people and several dogs. We were there in the winter and the kids made a big sled hill in the backyard where they played for hours! The neighborhood is very quiet and perfect for walking our dogs. We look forward to returning again soon!!

Great place for large group

We had a large group for Labor Day 2010 including 13 adults and 16 children. Sleeping was a little tight, but with an air mattress, we all fit just fine. The cabin was a great fit during the day and the kitchen is very nice. The cabin is very convenient to Truckee and is about 30 minutes from Tahoe. The cabin was just as described on this site. It would be fun to stay there again.

Great place for a crowd

We stayed in this house in the winter, and had a toddler with us. It has a lot of stairs, but they were easy to block off and the main level is very large. The kitchen is HUGE, as is the living room, and there's just lots of space for everyone. THe backyard had a sled run which we used for hours each day. There are bunkbeds in two bedrooms, the other two have regular beds so you're not forced to sleep in a bunk. The owner is helpful and gave us a good price for a long stay. I'd recommend this property to a friend. On a quiet street and close to Truckee. A great family getaway.

We enjoyed a weekend stay at this house in early September. It is clean, spacious, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the local golf courses in Truckee, and we did not have time to investigate any of the resort amenities, so no comment in that regard. The only negative comment is that there was no toilet paper back-up supplies (that we could find), and no bathroom soap, so we had to fetch some at the store. I would recommend staying at this place, just be sure to bring your bathroom supplies, towels, and either linens or sleeping bags to put on the beds. It is a nice quiet neighborhood and there are beautiful trees around the house and off the large back deck.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. We do supply some spare paper & soap to last a couple days, just not an endless supply. We do ask our guests to suppy any more they may need. It's a group effort. Take some, leave some. This is one way of keeping the cost down as much as possible.

Our family recently stayed in this Cabin for 2 weeks (Aug 2010). What a DEAL! We have been renting Cabins in Tahoe Donner for the past 10 years and this one- is-by far- the best deal- EVER. Very spacious all around. Huge deck and back yard setting were awesome. Lots of room to spread out throughout the place. I highly recommend it!!!!!

Unexpected Bad Experience

The home itself is nice and we were comfortable enjoying its location with our family. However, we were surprised by the daily fees imposed to use the Tahoe Donner facility. These ongoing steep fees were not clearly communicated to us and were a burden when we wanted to take our kids for a simple end of day swim. The kicker on this property and why we would never return was the very surprising follow-up communication we received from the owner. He is specific about all of the elements of staying at his home that will result in extra charges - the tone and description of each felt highly punitive. We treated his home as our own and left it in pristine condition as any good guest would do. Following our departure he accused us of damages and threatened to withhold our deposit. After having to hassle with him, he agreed we had done nothing wrong. It left us with a negative feeling and the experience with the owner was overall dishonorable.
Owner's Response: Dear unhappy renter, Sorry things turned out poorly. Problem we had was that someone in your party had urinated all over the bathroom so after you left and the house was closed up and heated up, the stink was unbearable for our arriving guests. We had to send the cleaners out for another emergency cleaning and it wasn't pleasant. I chose to refund your entire depoist as a gesture of good will. You cost us time, stress and extra money to clean up your extra mess. Someone need sto learn to use the toliet for their urine, not the whole bathroom! Good Luck!

This is a great place

Just got back from a weekend at this beautiful home. It was beyond our expectations, and definately is a steal. The home is modern yet very comfy. This kitchen is a dream. It has a large dining table for the entire family, and a very large deck. It is very peaceful.
The owner is very helpful, and the entire experience was wonderful. We highly recommend this place!!!
