Northwoods Lodge appeals to its guests with its spectacular riverfront setting, spacious river view deck, charming decor, exceptionally comfortable beds, outstanding cleanliness, high quality amenities, the private dock and kayaks, a beautiful, tranquil and even 'perfect location', with easy access to all wine country attractions, plus outstanding customer service.

Northwoods is a charming and peaceful riverfront getaway that has everything you'll need for a great wine country stay for two to six guests. Located less than one mile from Healdsburg, Northwoods is the perfect choice for summer fun, or cozy winter getaways. There's a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, river views, an expansive deck, a 4-5 person Marquis spa, a private dock with kayaks, and a Weber gas BBQ grill. You'll love the contemplative stillness, sitting on the dock surrounded breathtaking scenery. The only likely interruptions will be the kerplunk of a fish, or croak of a bullfrog. You'll come away refreshed!

There are 3 bedrooms, with comfortable queen size beds and fine linens. A fourth sleeping area is the upstairs sitting room. It has a twin size daybed, plus a twin size trundle that rolls out from beneath. There is one full bath is upstairs, and one full bath on the lower level. Overnight occupancy is limited to 6, plus any children under 3 years of age.

The décor includes vintage, northwoods style birch and willow furnishings, plus leather seating in the living room.

Northwood's owner, Lisa Neisingh, grew up in a rural area of Sonoma County, and enjoyed great vacations at her family's summer home. Wanting to share memorable getaway experiences with her children and others, she opened Northwoods Lodge, and three other nearby, riverfront homes, and has been inviting guests since 2003. Wanting to convey a relaxing, back-to-nature environment at Northwoods, she chose upscale, rustic, and charming antique 'Northwoods' style furnishings to make guests feel welcomed and relaxed. It's breathtakingly peaceful setting on the river is one of our guests' favorite things about Northwoods Lodge. A year ago a guest proposed marriage to his sweetheart in that most inspiring setting! In the summer, with our dock right at the water level, there's so much to do, or just sit in the deck chairs and watch. The water is warm, and clean, and the swimming is fabulous! The canoe traffic glides peacefully by. We make kayaks available to you, too. The home itself is as charming as can be. It's neat, tidy, appealing and supplied with everything you'll need to feel at home. It's furnished for comfort, from leather in the living room, to our very comfortable pillow top beds. The decor and antiques are laid back, rustic,and refined all at the same time. The large, beautiful, river view deck, shaded by redwoods and bay trees, is a cool place to relax in the summer. We keep the hot tub sparkling clean and bubbly for your enjoyment, and we provide zero gravity, recliner chairs on the deck for your relaxation. There are plenty of tables and chairs, to, to help you enjoy outdoor living. We furnish a 'fishing' room, well stocked with poles, tackle, fishing guide books, and the regulations and information you'll need to know. You'll find Northwoods Lodge to be a wonderful home to return to after a day away touring wineries. It's so close to Sonoma and Napa Wineries, and only one mile from Healdsburg. The location is 'perfect'!! We look forward to welcoming you soon!

We had the best time at Northwoods! The home was immaculate, and just sitting on the tree-shaded dock was so interesting and peaceful I felt no need to do anything else. I just watched the osprey, Steller's jays, heron and other birds, saw glimpses of big and small fish, and listened to the bull-frog across the river. We'd never kayaked before, but it seemed so safe that we ventured out and had a wonderful time - except for my husband who capsized in the rapids around the bend downstream. We were so content at the house, with all its comfortable chairs to laze around watching the river from upstairs and down, that we barely left it to explore Healdsburg. That will have to wait for next time, because we'll definitely be back!

Thorougly enjoyable location and accomodations. Thoughtful provision of just about everything we could wish for; the fans were welcome in the bedrooms! We used and enjoyed the hot tub and kayaks, and sat in the riverside chairs to gaze at the stars and listen to the sounds of nature. It was nice to have the washer and dryer available. Because this was a "working vacation" for me, I would have preferred wireless internet connection at the Lodge, but on the other hand the daily trip to town to find a hot spot meant we sampled a lot of different coffee shops and cafes we might otherwise have missed. We thank you for the professional handling of our reservation and the helpful information in advance of our stay!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Northwoods Lodge and in Sonoma in general! The house is darling and had everything we could possibly need for our four night stay. The jacuzzi provided a relaxing end to our full days of wine tasting and the grill allowed us the flexibility to stay in, cook dinner, and enjoy the good wine we had purchased. We enjoyed a fire every evening - it made everything smell so good! The river was so peaceful and we even ventured out in the kayaks one evening. But we made a mistake and forgot our shoes - never forget your shoes! The little rapids meant we had to walk the kayaks back and the rocky shoreline is painful on the feet! We will definitely return, bring more friends and family, and try each of the other houses as well. We loved it - thank you so much!

What a wonderful cabin! Beautifully decorated and an awesome view of the river! Only suggestion would be to have fans in the bedrooms -- it was very hot while we were there (not sure if the whole house fan was working. Switch was in the on position, but never heard it go on). Otherwise a great stay! Thanks!
Owner's Response: We are very sorry about the record-breaking heat wave that occurred here during your stay (and across most of the nation), and hope you were still able to enjoy some vacation fun relaxing on the shaded deck and in the river... Once they were back in stock in the stores, we did purchase additional fans for each of the three bedrooms, which should help quite a bit for any future, abnormally high temperatures.
