Gardiner Cabin Rental Photos and Description
Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8)

Yellowstone Riverview Cabin was built in 2007. This tastefully furnished cabin is located only 9 1/2 miles (a mere 10 minute drive) from Yellowstone Park's original entrance in Gardiner, Montana. Riverview Cabin is the perfect place for fishing the Yellowstone River with several boat launch and public access sites in close proximity. This cabin is also ideal for naturalists, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers, because it is situated in Paradise Valley, a majestically beautiful wildlife corridor directly connected to Yellowstone Park. Bighorn sheep, deer and elk can be viewed regularly.

The Great Room has a vaulted ceiling with panoramic windows to light the room with gorgeous views of Yankee Jim Canyon and the Yellowstone River. The happy hour wet bar, overstuffed furniture and custom stained glass wildlife panels are the perfect setting for relaxation after an adventurous day in our First National Park. There's room for eight at the dining room table next to a beautiful wildlife mural and comfy gas fireplace. The roll top desk is loaded with information, maps, guides and more on Yellowstone Country as well as a directory for booking raft trips, horseback rides, fishing trips etc.

There are three bedrooms - one with a king size bed, the second with a queen and the third with two sets of bunks for the kids. The den has a comfy leather sofa and there is satellite TV and lots of DVDs for all night movie enthusiasts! There is WiFi wireless internet connection for your electronic devices.

The custom designed stone kitchen has everything you need to create a gourmet dinner, including olive oil, and herbs and spices for your use. You will enjoy the gorgeous custom stained glass sunflower valances, made by the owner. It also features a breakfast bar with seating and a breakfast table.

There is an organic garden and guests are welcome to purchase fresh greens, veggies and tomatoes.

This home is well supplied - we provide linens, towels, a hair dryer, hand soaps and shampoo, dish washing soap, laundry soap, trash can liners, etc. The comfort of our guests is important to us!

Activities:

Nature lovers, photographers, young and old will love being just minutes from the two million acre playground known as Yellowstone Park. Whether it's horseback riding, whitewater rafting, hiking, geyser gazing or fishing the Yellowstone River and its many streams, creeks, lakes and ponds - you'll find it all right at your doorstep at Yellowstone Riverview Cabin! An added bonus is private stained glass lessons at the owner's studio for those rainy days! We supply our guests with lots of information, guide books, maps, trail guides and anything that you might need to make your vacation at our home a wonderful memory!

Winter at Yellowstone Riverview Cabin:

This is a great place for a winter vacation, because it's close to Gardiner which is the only entrance to Yellowstone Park that is car-accessible year round. That plowed road remains open all winter all the way through to Tower Falls, the Lamar Valley and Cooke City. Many groomed trails for cross-country skiing are located along this road.Xanterra Parks and Resorts offers guided snowmobile tours and snow coach tours into Yellowstone leaving from Mammoth Hot Springs, and they also rent skis and snow shoes, etc. They can be reached at 1-307-344-7311.

If you love the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains and look forward to visiting Yellowstone Park with all of its natural beauty and wildlife, you're sure to enjoy your stay at Yellowstone Riverview Cabin!

For 20 years John, our son Brady and I traveled from the Florida Keys to camp, hike, fish and explore Yellowstone Country. In 1998 we found the perfect spot and the three of us built our dream home and retreat. 12 years later we find Yellowstone as fascinating as it was on our first trip. We're still exploring this beautiful region finding new wilderness camping spots, blue ribbon lakes and streams and the magnificent wildlife of Yellowstone Country!

Magdalena Beall purchased this cabin in 2007

Yellowstone Country is truly the 'last best place.' This remote area has more wildlife residents than human ones and learning about these critters and the land they share with us is an exciting journey few people take. It's gratifying to share our place with folks and see the wonderment in their eyes after they get up close and personal with wolves and bears or sit in a natural outdoor thermal pool in Yellowstone - there's nothing like it!

Sunrise lights up Yellowstone's Electric Peak. Coyotes howl, elk and bighorns wander the field while an eagle glides along the river looking for a breakfast trout. Sphinx Mountain lies majestically above us and the sunset illuminates the Yellowstone River flowing through Yankee Jim Canyon. Darkness falls and the Montana sky lights up with a billion stars. As you close you eyes wolves sing you to sleep ~ goodnight! Come share the magic, the wildlife, the land - we have your home full of books, maps, info & more to make your stay one to remember! The other reviews accurately highlight the many wonderful features of this home. The location is awesome, and our overall winter vacation experience was stellar! There were, however, minor shortcomings that we would have appreciated knowing. First, there is no access to the upstairs of the house; all the living space is on one floor, and the 3/4 bath would be small for a large group. Second, the house was not as clean as it should have been. There was clearly used soap in the shower, the dish drainer (there is no dishwasher) had a gray coating, the bar shelves and bedside lamps were thickly coated with dust, and pet hair was visible on the rugs.
The dark shades on the bedside lamps precluded reading in bed, and the switch for the very bright overhead was across the room. Two of the three track bulbs over the chair in the living room were burned out. The sofa did not have lighting at all, and the only lighting in the tv room was a harsh overhead. Theinternet connection was iffy, even in the great room, the bedroom, and the kitchen, making it difficult to respond to business concerns.
Maybe we're nitpicky, but these factors - particularly the cleanliness - definitely diminished the comfort of what is a beautiful home.

Owner's Response: Regarding the above comments, I'd like to clarify the following:

1) There is no access to the second story because it's not part of the rental property and it's not advertised anywhere as having two stories. The square footage that is mentioned in the listing applies to the first floor and is correct.
2) This vacation rental is advertised as having one bathroom. People can book it or not according to their preferences. This was a party of two and one bathroom was adequate for their use. It is also advertised as not having a dishwasher so they must not have paid attention to the details before they booked.
3) I had cleaned the home personally before the arrival of these guests. The rugs had been shampooed in December. The kitchen sink wasn't grey with dirt but it's stainless steel so that's why it looks grey - not because it's dirty.
4) There are two stained glass bedside lamps in the master bedroom and the fan light has four adjustable lights, two of which are pointed towards the bed for reading.
5) There was one track light out in the great room out od 15 track lights. My husband went to check on the guests after their arrival and they could have commented that a light was out, and he would have replaced it right away. All ceiling lights are adjustable so they didn't have to be too bright or too dim. This also goes for the lights in the TV room.
6) I checked on the high speed internet in all the rooms and it worked fine. I am not sure what the problem was. However, we are up in the mountains so access may not be as perfect as in the city.
In conclusion, I am disappointed that these guests didn't communicate with us when we asked if everything was okay. We could have addressed their concerns at that time. Our hope is they return to Yellowstone Country and enjoy it's splendor.

Thanks for your hospitality. The big red barn was the center of many wonderful Christmas memories for our extended family. Trips to the Park for wildlife watching and cross country skiing were the highlights, but Chico Hot Springs was great too.

Wow! What a great place you have here. We really enjoyed our 5 days in the 'Big Red Barn'. So relaxing and private. Hats off to you both. The beauty you have constructed is amazing. Love the location to Yellowstone. Perfect for day trips and this to come back to relax here at our home away
from home. Sorry to say it is time for us to go. Our last night here is sad but we are so grateful for this opportunity to see the wonders of God all around us. Everything was just perfect! Thank you both and we will be back. God Bless you.

WOW... What a beautiful place you have built, created and maintained! Thank you for sharing your imagination and this grand view of the valley with us - we really appreciate all of it. We spent 10 days here but way too short to do what we wanted to do! I was hoping to take a class and see how you make stained glass or pottery but we so quickly ran out of time. On the bright side we got to see so many cool wild animals. Besides the bald eagles and the grizzlies, on our very last hike yesterday in the park we also saw a big black wolf!! He was just 100 feet from us. These memories will be with us forever and so will the happy moments our family got to experience while staying in this 'Red Barn!' Again, thank you very much for everything.
PS: I finally had a chance to visit Yellowstone Gallery (in Gardiner) and gladly picked up a beautiful (stained glass) dragonfly Elenor created. It will be cherished in our home for years to come.

Most sincerely,

I loved this house. I just wish that we could have seem your art room because you make great decorations for the house. My favorite is the wolf at the top left window in the living room!

I am awfully sad to have to leave tomorrow. We have to go back to boring old Yakima, WA. I loved seeing all of the animals in and out of the park! We were all very disappointed to not see any wolves besides caged up ones at the Wolf and Grizzly Discovery Center. Your home is very beautiful. The beds and couches were very comfy. Two days ago I was playing and dropped the fire extinguisher on my foot and left a huge bump and many bruises. But everything is really great here. Thank you so much.
Rebecca Rainville

We leave early tomorrow and I am very sad to go! The house, Yellowstone, people, animals and everything else was great. You guys are obviously very talented. While in the park we attempted to count the wildlife - it came to about eight sheep, six bears, four wolves, two coyotes, fourteen pronghorn and many, many, many bison, elk and deer. It was such a great experience and I loved everything (except the sulfur smells). Thanx for absolutely everything!
Rachel Rainville

Today is our last day here and we have thoroughly enjoyed our week here - the house was just right and it was nice to have a comfy and relaxing couch to lounge on after a long day at the park! Beds were cozy - I have decided to buy a ceiling fan when I get home to install in our bedroom! Love all the stone and tile work too. The park was fun - saw just about everything as far as animals go. One of our favorite sights was definitely Grand Prismatic Spring! Please tell Kim thanks for the stories! (Kim is the wrangler who rents out downstairs - takes folks on long pack trips all summer/quite a character.)

We had a wonderful time and we had everything we needed. The house is beautiful and VERY COMFORTABLE. This was our first family vacation and I don't think we could have picked a better place! We are "dog" people and enjoyed them when they came over to visit with us. What a wonderful gift to be blessed with the ability to create such beautiful stained glass artwork. Thank you so much for allowing us to make this our home away from home! My youngest son and I really enjoyed the OTO Ranch and Jardine mine and now I'm hooked on huckleberry ice cream. We hate to leave!

I love this house, it is awesome. When I first came here I thought I was at a famous person's house. My favorite part of it was the stone floor in the shower and the bunk beds.

What a fantastic trip! Your place added to the excitement. Nathan couldn't wait to come "home" to play with his new dogs. He cried last night because we had to leave. Beartooth Highway was one of our favorites! Very much enjoyed all the wildlife especially the grizzly and cubs! Very much enjoyed the Canyon of the Yellowstone - what a sight everywhere. LOVED the stars at night, well worth staying up for. Thanks for your hospitality and the life long memories!

April 30 - May 3, 2010This was a great 3 days away. We had a very nice time and the home was great and just right for our needs. Thank you for letting us have our girls with us - when traveling with dogs it is always hard to find a good space for them to play - this was perfect! Love the art - very inspiring. Thank you for the last minute arrangements.

The trip has been wonderful - the house and scenery are gorgeous! The once in a lifetime experience has been completely worthwhile. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
PS: I loved playing with Thor! (This is the owners' dog). He is such a sweetheart and it is wonderful he has finally been given the home he deserves.
Kate (daughter)

As Kate said it has all been great. Thanks for opening your place to guests. I look forward to recalling great memories when I see my new stained glass pieces!
